We have the best assistant in the nation -- of course, we already knew that. Congrats, Coach! Well-deserved.12 points -
Just came to post that exact passage. Sure is refreshing to have a coach with enough self confidence to admit to an error in judgment and be willing to self scout.7 points

I love this quote in a recent Sports Illustrated article interview of Coach DeVries….. Coach DeVries is completely transparent in his explanation and admits that he feels he and his coaches “messed up/overlooked” a player’s utilization,(Sam Alexis)…. He and his coaching staff worked together and made a change. Coach Woodson would have said, “ It’s my job and it’s on me to get these players ready to play better and get them over the hump….!” We all know this statement was repeated countless times after a poor performance followed up by the same results.6 points

After the 2024 season, Penn State and OSU (and probably others we don't know about) made huge runs to hire Bryant away from IU. We held them off, likely mostly because of Cig's relationship with him, though two big raises must have helped too. What a key moment that was for IUFB, and Bryant. One year later: National Champion and Broyles Award winner. Plus after another raise he's more or less the highest paid DC in CFB. Incredible. Cig's program is insane.5 points -

@LamarCheeks once again thank you for your updates. One helluva effort missing both Z and Shay. And what in the hell is CTM doing playing Makalusky? dws Maya really stepped up last night not just in scoring but she grabbed 6 rebounds as well. Really happy for her and that has to be a huge confidence boost. Nevaeh also played well. Yes, we lost, but the women put up a damn good fight.3 points -
Where is the guy who doesn't think Makalusky is any good? She just made a 4 point play to get IU back within 3.3 points

Yea, how Sisley and Miles play out makes a big difference in our spend. After this year nobody should be offering them big money to transfer (although either could for PT purposes). Sisley looks like a guy who could be pushing an all-conf team as a senior. But as a sophomore…hard to tell. He’s currently lost most of his rotation mins but obviously coach still likes him and plays him at the end of games. I wouldn’t be surprised if either him or Miles busted it all off season and one started next year, but I would be worried if the staff was counting on it.3 points -

I'm pretty sold on the idea we will be even better OL wise next year. Evans, Smith should be better versions of themselves... if Bray Lynch makes a swap to center, Idk that he's Coogan, but I doubt there's much of a drop, at all... Ajani can absolutely be as good as Lynch at RG the last two years... and Brunner will be a plus player at RT vs just being average on that side..2 points

Bryant Haines, with a big smile, talking about his daughter who is 7 months old "Gracie bear is undefeated. She's never tasted defeat." Indiana DC Bryant Haines talking about his 'lower rated' players at the Broyles Award Ceremony: "I don't want to sell those kids short. I don't know what a 5-star is. They are tough as nails kids, extremely competitive ... that's the mental makeup to be a 5-star player."2 points -

Winning streak ended with a 7-6 loss to Arizona State in yesterday's second game. We had a 3-0 lead going into the bottom of the 5th but ASU scored 4 and added 3 more in their 6th. We picked up 2 in our 6th and 1 in the 7th but it wasn't enough. We used up all our hits in the first game and could only muster 5 in this game. Taylor Hess started and pitched 4 solid innings and then imploded in the 5th. Single game scheduled for today at noon against Pacific.2 points -

Helluva effort tonight. Hung in there as long as we could. Refs didn't cost us, but they didn't help. We had three players foul out, and with an already short bench -- that didn't help matters. Maya was superb. Breakout game for her. Hopefully we get Shay back before we head across town Sunday afternoon. UCLA is on a whole different level than USC. Wonder what was up with Ondineme. She gave us some decent minutes the other day, but tonight -- not one minute.2 points -

What a way to open the weekend. 23-0 demolishing of Portland State. Aly VanBrandt went 5-5 hitting for the cycle that included 2 HR and a total of 7 RBI which tied a program record. We had a total of 22 hits with 6 other women having multi-hit games and 4 women with multi-RBIs. Ella Trout pitched the full 5-inning run-shortened game allowing a single hit and 2 BB. Later today, they'll play AZ State.2 points -

This morning - Illinois guard Kylan Boswell is going to be a game-time decision on Sunday against Indiana, per coach Brad Underwood, as he nears a return from his fractured hand. He’ll be unrestricted in practice, and whether he will play will come down to how he responds. Top 10 ranked Illinois (20-5) (11-3) is on a 2-game losing streak and would love to make it a 3-game losing streak but the Hoosiers will have to play a near perfect game. Shutting down Keaton Wagler will be a Herculean task. Averages 18.5 ppg, 4.9 rpg and 4.3 apg. Shoots 46% FG and 44% on 3s. The team averages 86 ppg with a +15 margin shooting 47% FG and 36% on 3s. They average 41 rbg with a +10 margin. Need to make shots; limit turnovers and stay out of foul trouble - so what else is new? Stealing a win would be HUGE! Radio Live Stats1 point -

Illinois has a ton of size. The one saving grace is that they're not the most athletic team either. I agree, though...I don't expect a win...however, if Dorn, Devries and Wilkerson are knocking down 3s at a high clip, anything is possible.1 point -

New winning streak started with an 8-0 shutout win over Pacific in a run-shortened game. Jasmine Reyes started and pitched 4 innings allowing just 3 hits and 1 BB. Aubree Hooks pitched the hitless 5th. We had 8 hits with Alex Cooper and Peyton Drummond each with 2. Aly VanBrandt, Cooper and Avery Parker each with 2 RBI. Next up is Nevada at noon on Saturday.1 point -

If ever there were a game where size bothered us, this would be it. Hardest game left on the schedule by efficiency metrics. Hate to be a moral victory guy, but even playing them down to the wire at their place would be a solid outcome for this squad.1 point -

To me it's not incompetence nor corruption. It's that the NCAA is a toothless industry organization, without the ability to hold its member institutions accountable. That has occurred through a combination of Member institution indifference to accountability measures, and Court rulings whereby NCAA lawyers are well aware they will not prevail if they push certain issues.1 point -
A bright future. No Zania and six of the eight players that saw the court were true freshmen or sophs. Not necessarily a national contender future - time will tell if Zania can get healthy, how well the current players develop and whether there's a true alpha in next year's class, but Caffey, Beaumont, and Makalusky (and a healthy Zania) are very good long-term pieces.1 point

We've done a nice job digging ourselves out of a hole. Wish we closed the Nebraska game out because then we'd be headed into this stretch with an opportunity to really improve seeding. Regardless, lot of improvement over the course of the season and this is generally when you want to see the team start rounding into form / firing on all cylinders. We will see the extent of that based on how we do against Illinois, Purdue, and MSU. Gotta take care of business against the others. Make the tournament and who knows with a player like Lamar. In any case you have to like what you've seen from DDV and team these past handful of games or so. Convert our top targets in the portal and year 2 could be very good.1 point -

I’ve got serious issues with Herbie. 2024 IUFB was a great story worthy of celebrating and promoting. It’s fine to critical of us at OSU and ND, but there is context to those games (those were the best two teams in the country). But no, Kirk singled us out as undeserving and a problem with the playoff system. Didn’t hear hardly a peep about Boise, SMU, Clemson, or Tennessee who lost big. Just this week he still claims we didn’t beat a team with a winning record last year, which is wrong. We jammed him with the Oregon win and he had to give us credit. So, I’m not a fan. He is no friend of ours. I also think he has quite the ego and the whole bring his dog everywhere to boost his approval rating thing is corny and weak.1 point
