  1. The Big Ten's all time leading scorer is back at Cook Hall

  2. I've been wondering the same - which side is waffling. My feeling (based on nothing other than that) is that he has been told that he can commit at any time, but they still may take another PG if that opportunity presents itself.

  3. Well... If you believe that we are in Garland's top 6, Duke's top 5, and that Akinjo, Dort and DeVoe also all have IU in real consideration, Phinisee may be waffling as to whether to commit due to his wondering whether IU is trying to recruit over him in the 2018 class. If you believe this theory, then IU may have even made that specific point with Phinisee. Now, if you believe that those other point guards are just paying lip service to IU, then it would be Phinisee who is waffling in his IU commitment. well???

  5. Went back to doing the 24/7 basketball class calculator this morning to bring us some luck in recruiting again. So.... if we pick up Phinisee we will be the #4 best recruiting team. if we pick up additional Romeo we will go to #1! boom

  11. My personal thought is the staff wanted to wait Garland out and find out if we have a legit shot before taking RP. I think if we take RP early we aren't getting DG. The think the recent CB action indicates this notion. Jones to Duke. Garland next. People think Vandy. IU slotting leads to RP.

  12. Sounds like we have a big-time TE ahead of Friend...also sounds like tackle eligible at the goal line will now be an option!

  13. I'm definitely following this recruiting closely. But last year I probably got a little too invested in the Kris Wilkes recruitment, and it sucked when he signed with Under Armour. Err, with UCLA. I think it's awesome that we're in the top 2 or 3. But it really feels like Romeo and his folks are going to be tight lipped about this whole thing. He doesn't play up his celebrity on Twitter, and he really doesn't give too many interviews. I think it is huge that IU is driving distance, as are many of the Big Ten games we'll play. That would not be the case with Louisville or Kansas. I also really think that Archie and his unassuming demeanor will be a boon. It seems to jive with Romeo's way. Here's a question. When was the last year IU didn't have a 5 star on the team? 2010 I think, but that team had Oladipo and Watford (ranked #35).

  14. When I get a chance, I'll try to look up the medians of each year. The averages look for a couple years look really close, but the issue was the amount of glut. For instance, last year the marquee games pushed the averages down of the super cupcakes. Our RPI/KP list probably looked like this: 2,6,9,18,150,250,275,280,290,300,310,320,330.

  15. Speaking of a better schedule... FCTC spoke a lot of wanting to get opponents on the schedule but unable to work it out. The SOS has been a topic of debate under FCTC for awhile. Typically, I make an initial judgement on a specific subject but to really take a side I need research (numbers, analysis). When individual opponents were being released I thought our schedule would be better than it has for awhile. After running the numbers, on paper from opponent's previous years KenPom/RPI, we have a better schedule than any single year under FCTC. The numbers (averages): (2017-2018) KenPom - 158, RPI - 164 (2016-2017) KenPom - 202, RPI - 185 (2015-2016) KenPom - 171, RPI - 179 (2014-2015) KenPom - 195, RPI - 248 (2013-2014) KenPom - 167, RPI - 168 (2012-2013) KenPom - 189, RPI - 200 (2011-2012) KenPom - 202, RPI - 190 I feel pretty confident that our noncon SOS will only get better with time under CAM too.

  21. Phinisee liked this tweet on Twitter. The tweet being quoted doesn't show up in the embed but the tweet being referenced says "SOURCES: Robert Phinisee committing to IU within the next 48 hours". Wish I would've seen this before the "committing Thursday night prediction". 48 hours doesn't rule out Sunday though!

  23. I like patience in recruiting. Let's get the right guy. If other PGs are genuinely interested, let's get whoever is the best fit. If this takes officials to figure it out, that's all good with me. This being said, RP could commit before weekends end for all I know.

  24. I have no idea what is going on here, but it just seems strange given the information I've seen posted. I really like RP, but if he is that worried about who else might be here, this might not be the best place for him. Then again, I have no clue how young people think these days.

  25. As tight lipped as Romeo has been it wouldn't surprise me to see Texas become a contender. I expect a school to come out of nowhere. Also people take his quietness as him being shy and that is the wrong impression. His quietness is a humble confidence. Extremely confident and the "man" part is why I have said I believe he comes here for awhile. He seems like the kid who wants to run the team not play with a bunch of guys just as good as him. U of L has a lot of talent on their team. We have enough that with him we could be very good. This Texas thing is still bothering me though lol. Came out of nowhere.

  39. So this height at PG myth needs to be disproven. I'm tired of seeing it and almost posted about it like two weeks ago but got distracted. National Champs: 2017- UNC- PG- Joel Berry- 6'0 2016-Nova- PG- Jalen Brunson-6'3 2015- Duke- PG- Tyus Jones- 6'1 2014- UCONN- Shabazz Napier- PG- 6'1 2013- UL- PG- Peyton Siva- 6'0 2012- UK--PG- Marquis Teague- 6'2 2011-UCONN- PG- Kemba Walker- 6'1 2010- Duke- PG- Nolan Smith- 6'2 2009- UNC- PG- Ty Lawson- 5'11 2008- KU- PG- Mario Chalmers- 6'2/ Sherron Collins-5'11 2007- UF- PG- Taurean Green- 6'0 2006- UF-PG- Taurean Green- 6'0 2005- UNC- PG- Raymond Felton- 6'1 Okay. That's 12 years. That's modern day college basketball. That's an average height of 6'0 PG for national championship winners. There is literally no positive correlation between above avg height in PG's and national championships. If you think I'm cherry picking 12 years, keep going- it's only going to get worse for you. Again, the height thing is not me saying I would rather have RP at 6'0 than 6'6 as my PG...it's me saying height isn't the thing to focus on with PG. Sure, all things equal, duh- I want the taller guy. But waaayy more goes into it at PG. Give me talent, ball handling, ball control, leadership, IQ(O and D), passing ability, defensive fundamentals, cleverness, shooting, quickness - pretty much everything before height. I think IU fans have PTSD with regards to the Syracuse blunder. I was there, 3rd row. Crean was screaming nonsense. IU got beat because they had a terrible gameplan to attack a zone, not because Michael Carter-Williams was 6'6. It was one game and it was a mistake at the top. *This is probably broader than RP, and probably CCG is going to PM me about our own rules regarding the recruiting forum. But, yolo?

  40. A dark horse is someone who no one expects to be a contender. Seton Hall will be a top 20 team starting the year off and return most of their starters from a NCAA tourney team. Most national experts will have them at the top of the Big East Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

  41. According to a Brian Snow post on another website people around him are surprised he hasn't committed by now and wonder what he is waiting for. RP has said behind the scenes he isn't going to take visits before he commits. They say he has all the information and no clue why he hasn't committed to whichever school he wants to go to
