  2. Saturday final: Indiana 120, Kentucky 74 TJD the leading scorer with 17 but he definitely needs to work on his FT shooting. Friday's final: Indiana 97, Kentucky 64 Per the record book, the 79-point margin over the two games is the most combined margin of victory in the Indiana-Kentucky series that dates back to 1939.

  3. Agree completely. A lot of talk about those two makes them sound interchangeable. From what I’ve seen Galloway is much more complete and more competitive.

  5. Nice background article on Luke Goode - yes, I know it's from the Laffyette newspaper but despite that, it's still a good read. Interesting to learn that as it now stands PUke will only have 2 scholarships available for the loaded '21 Indiana class. Also interesting to learn that Goode's father played football for IU as a defensive back and wide receiver. https://www.jconline.com/story/sports/college/purdue/basketball/2019/06/07/homesteads-luke-goode-touch-purdue-recruiting-picks-up/1384272001/

  10. In OT, the Indiana girls salvage a split with their Kentucky counterparts getting a 76-71 win at Bankers Life thanks to strong play in OT from IU recruits. From Kyle Neddenriep of the Indy Star - Jorie Allen with a big bucket inside and fouled. She hits. Tied 71-71 with 2:02 in OT. Allen with another bucket on a great feed from Beeler. Indiana All-Stars lead 73-71 with 1:04 in OT. And Allen back to line. She hits one. Up 74-71. Shaila Beeler making big plays in OT. Misses a shot after a nice drive but gets a steal and dishes to Allen, who is again fouled. Kentucky ball back, 74-71 with 22.9 seconds in OT. Score was tied at 64 in regulation with 16.9 second left; Kentucky had the ball and graciously committed a turnover but the Indiana girls couldn't get a bucket. First overtime game in the series since 2010.

  16. On the hottest day of the NCAA Outdoor Championships so far, Leah Moran took to the field to compete in the triple jump. In a very competitive field the junior hit a personal mark of 13.15m (43' 1.75") to place 13th. As the Hoosiers time comes to a close, they had six First Team All-Americans and three Second Team All-Americans for a total of nine. Daniel Michalski led the final lap of the steeplechase final but a fall caused him to take seventh in the event. Michalski ends his career at Indiana with first team All-America honors. Also ending their collegiate last night was Eric Bethea who grabbed a personal best in the triple on his way to seventh and a spot on All-America first team list. Cooper Williams matched his indoor finish in the 800m with another fifth place finish and first team All-America accolades. Rounding out the field was Kyle Mau who raced to eighth to land him on All-America first team. On the women's side, Khayla Dawson and Maddy Pollard proved that you can never count them out. The duo picked up sixth and eighth, respectively, to earn spots on the All-America first team. Adam Coulon competed at second outdoor championships where he competed in the pole vault and walked away a second team All-American in the men's pole vault. Joe Murphy was another Hoosier who saw his last laps in an Indiana uniform as he picked up second team All-America accolades in the men's 1500m. Lastly, Leah Moran concluded the championships for the Hoosiers as she picked up All-America honors. The NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships concluded the 2019 season for Indiana. The Hoosiers will return in August for 2019 cross country season.

  19. Slow morning, so watched all of the Steward video I could find. Unlike a lot of kids, there’s quite a bit of useful video of him. He’s a fun watch. Obviously he’s a complete scorer, but what stood out to me is how clever he is around the rim. Uses his off shoulder and arm to create space without fouling, finds creases in traffic and is able to exploit the space while maintaining his body control and awareness to get the ball on the board and finish. That kid found some outrageous angles. He’ll be an effective scorer even if his shot isn’t falling, which, for me, really differentiates him from a kid like Leal. It’s easy to see Steward’s appeal, he can get a good look at will and he’ll flat kill guys in pick and roll. I hope Miller works this one until the kid says no.

  29. 3rd day of the NCAA championships - Eric Bethea, Kyle Mau, Daniel Michalski, and Cooper Williams return home as All-Americans after the final day of men's competition at NCAA Outdoor Championships. Williams was looking to add to his fifth-place finish and All-America honors in the 800m at indoor championships. The West Lafayette, Ind. native recorded a season best time of 1:46.45 to take fifth in a very competitive field. Racing in his last steeplechase as a Hoosier, Michalski was leading at the bell lap but an unfortunate fall at the water pit caused him to take seventh in his final meet while wearing the cream & crimson. Bethea also concluded his collegiate career on Friday night in the triple jump. The senior grabbed seventh with a personal best mark of 16.65m (54 7.5") to close out his career. Mau capped off the night by becoming a first team All-American in the 5K. The Hudson, Ohio native recorded a 14:09.62 to place eighth overall. Leah Moran is the loan Hoosier that will compete tomorrow to close out the 2019 NCAA Track & Field Outdoor Championships for the Hoosiers. Her triple jump stint will begin at 6:40 p.m. EST.

  34. Yes yes yes. This was overdue. Granted, it will likely benefit the more athletic teams initially like Kentucky and SEC teams. I, too, don’t care how we are initially effected. The game will be better in the long run. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

  35. The collective freak out when Morton chose Purdue is what's not helpful, because it's clear that it was for nothing. Everybody was reacting based off of outdated rankings, even though it was clear that he was being passed on the AAU circuit. People were so desperate to believe that we were losing our recruiting momentum that they were reacting without facts, and as it turned out, getting up in arms about nothing. Morton had clearly become less of a priority, and it's now evident why. Evaluations change, and Morton's changed quickly, both for Archie and for the scouting industry. I was pretty sure before that Archie had backed off, and seeing these rankings I'm almost positive now. He's now nearly the lowest ranked player that we'd be pursuing (Galloway is just 2 spots behind him). If Morton had committed to Indiana, and then his ranking had fallen 60+ spots, people on this board would be freaking out about how Archie prioritized the wrong guy, and now we're stuck with an overrated guard when there are so many others that we could be pursuing. Yes, there's still a chance that Morton spurned IU even though Archie told him he was a top target and chose Purdue. But what's more likely? 1. A guy who had IU listed as one of his top schools and had scheduled a visit then deciding to skip the visit and not even include IU in his top 4 schools, or 2. a coach deciding to prioritize guys that were more skilled and had clearly surpassed Morton? The only way 1 is realistic is if Archie did something to completely infuriate Morton, and that seems extremely unlikely.

  36. Oh... so you mean, Romeo didn't bang everybody's girlfriends last year? Can't believe that one rumor that some people took as gospel wasn't true.

  37. Yeah; I think the pessimistic tweets have been generated from Archie's careful word choice at the Huber presser. He said at one point that they were far far away from knowing Hunter's status, but then later described a pretty strong workout regimen that Hunter was already undertaking. The negative line got the attention. I listened to the whole speech and was generally encouraged.

  38. Of course it’s revisionist. We, mostly support Archie and his evaluation of players so when it’s made clear that he wants a kid and that kid commits we all rejoice. BUT, when those kids don’t pan out, of course we question those evaluations and offers and prioritization by our staff. I don’t recall anyone throwing a fit when moretti left campus without an offer but after taking his team to the ncaa finals this year, I do question that decision, especially since he shot 46% from 3 and we didn’t have anyone that could hit the broad side of a barn. Whether it’s Henry, Moretti, Anderson, Forrester etc, I support and give it some time. When time determines a decision to be a bad one I think it’s ok to call a spade a spade Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
