He should. Any new coach, at any school, should get 3/4 years before fans start showing up with pitchforks. Now if there are extenuating circumstances, then the coach shouldn’t get that long, (ie cheating, abuse, etc).

Yes he is a special player, but I'm not convinced we need OAD's at the moment. I'm sure in his mind, he's only planning on a 1-year college experience and if that's the case, then we have to go out and replace him in '20 just like we have to replace Romeo for the upcoming season. Don't think we're in a position (yet) that we can keep relying on landing the Romeo's and Trendon's year in and year out.

Awesome. He was the guy I wanted most and was very bummed we lost out.

The NBA is awesome right now. But, there's a difference between dominating and making an impact. Below are just a few of the 20-22 year olds (I didn't look up ages, so could be of a year or two for some). Jayson Tatum Jaylen Brown Donovan Mitchell Ben Simmons Luca Doncic Trae Young Devin Booker Karl Anthony Townes If you extend to under 25 the list includes Joel Embiid, Nikola Jokic, Giannis (probably MVP), Porzingas and several other stars.

Don't think I'd go that far - Trendon Watford is a special player. Let's put it this way; Quinones and Franklin can both be threes defensively in college. Harris is a 1/2 Al Durham style combo guard. IF we got both Harris and Quinones, going into next year we'd have four or five players considered 'bigs' (Race, TDJ, DD, Joey, Justin), four players for the three who could swing up to the four or down to the two (Jerome, Lester, Armaan, Damezi), and four players who guard the one/two and play with the ball in their hands (Harris, Al, Rob, DeVonte). That's good roster balance.

Stanford University Cardinal Classic STANFORD, Calif.— Late at night, Indiana Track & Field wrapped up competition at the Cardinal Classic hosted for Stanford University. Indiana swept the top three spots in the men's 1500m. Joe Murphy led the slate of Hoosiers with a winning time of 3:44.68. Following him were Copper Williams and Teddy Browning who picked up second and third, respectively. Rounding out the field in section two was Daniel Michalski as he nabbed a time of 3:46.99 to place 5th. In a difference section, Aaron Bennett clocked a time of 4:00.34 to finish 11th in his first collegiate 1500m. Haley Harris and Claire Hamilton competed in the women's 1500m. Harris was able to out kick the field in final stretch to pick up the victory in her section with a time of 4:22.21. In section three, Hamilton grabbed a time of 4:46.60 to place seventh. A trio of Hoosiers competed in the men's 1500m invite. Running a fast-paced race, Kenneth Hagen, Kyle Mau, and Ben Veatchfinished back-to-back-back in fourth, fifth, and sixth. Hagen ran a time of 3:45.38 to lead Indiana as teammate Mau snagged a time of 3:45.49. Veatch finished the race in a time of 3:46.05 in the final race of the night. On the women's side, Katherine Receveur and Kelsey Harris also finished back-to-back at the picked up seventh and eighth place. Receveur clocked a time of 4:24.31 while Harris crossed in a time of 3:25.47. Up next, the Hoosiers will participate in the 125th running of Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa. Action is slated to begin on Thursday, Apr. 25 and wrap up on Saturday Apr. 28.

The uniform tops don’t match the bottoms. They made the borders on the shorts thicker and more pronounced then eliminated the bordering on the tops. Looks tacky and definitely doesn’t improve on what we’ve had. Probably not as big a deal as I’m making it out to be but it bothers me nonetheless.

I don’t really enjoy the NBA anymore. Just feel like Jersey sales have become the overriding decision makers during games when it comes to officiating. It’s gone way beyond the superstar bonus of the 90s.

Exactly what I have said. Trendon will be an all conference player in college. However, I think he is more focused on the league and good for him. Good if we good him, if not best of luck to him.

Agree, and actually very similar to Tatum and Brown on my Celtics, as far as the situation of young players with potential/promise on a team of veterans. You take a guy like Devin Booker who gets to dominate on a team like the Suns, but Brown and Tatum have to share time and the ball with Irving, Horford, Hayward, Smart, Rozier, Morris, etc. Much like the Pacers young guys.

They also play on an incredibly balanced team... Bog, VO, Thad, MT, DC, and DS all avg double figures. Turner has some work to do.. Sabonis just needs more experience and all that. Good building pieces.

To me, this means he understands how to play the game, not just the sport. Positioning, angles, spacing, passing away from the defense, getting to spots and getting the ball to spots where he or a team mate can do something positive, things like that. May not stand out as the best athlete on any floor, but a basketball player. I'm tired of athletes who can't play the game very well.

I think he walks in and gets 12-15 mins as backup pg immediately. Neither Green nor Durham are remotely effective in that role. Also like him next to Rob as a secondary creator. Think he’s one of those kids who will just force Archie to find him time. And I agree with you on Carton.

I've watched him probably a half dozen times or so for Bloomington South the past two years. I'm not a scout or an expert. I do support South, though. I think some folks see his ranking and can't understand why Archie hasn't offered Leal yet. I think you saw why. He can look very pedestrian at times and fade into the game. Personally I have never seen him dominate a game (although I know he has in other games.) I may be bad luck because I witnessed probably some of his worst games. You accurately described how he has played a few times. The Edgewood game at the beginning of the year was low point. Outhustled in that one, too. As a whole though, he has potential. Currently a good shooter. Nowhere near a Hulls or Roth or Zeisloft at this moment, in my opinion. But still good. Has the potential to be an above average offensive player at the next level. Solid size for his position. Can defend well when healthy and engaged. Is well coached. Intelligent individual. Good teammate. Evidently lights it up in AAU. I believe he has strong ties to IU... But I won't dive into that for privacy purposes. As I have said in the past, I'd be happy for him to become a Hoosier. I think we get him if we want him. But he can't be the centerpiece of the class. He's a support piece, in my opinion. If you liked the addition of guys like Damezi Anderson and Armaan Franklin, I think you'll like Leal. I'd guess his impact will be somewhere around there. What's funny is the amount of negativity you see against Jalen Windham but love Leal. My opinion is that their about the same.

I think there are a lot of guys at the evaluation process who are being judged on how well they get water for the real potential draftees.

I agree mostly. I think if he stays healthy AND stays out of foul trouble he could for sure. I think him and Brunk sort of become our two headed monster in that position. Nike released its game schedules today along with summaries of each participating team and its key players. Keep in mind, the following are not exactly unbiased critiques. INDY HEAT - Caleb Furst - IU Offer / Jaden Ivey / Kiyron Powell Junior Jaden Ivey is a somewhat under-the-radar prospect, but the Heat coaching staff is extremely high on the 6-foot-3 guard. Ivey has some unique roots, as he’s the son of Niele Ivey, the starting point guard for Notre Dame on Muffet McGraw’s first national championship team in 2001. Much like his mother, Ivey is a hard-nosed, attacking point guard who competes on both ends of the floor. Ivey averaged 25.1 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.9 steals in 22 games for Marian (IN) in 2018-19, helping guide the Knights to a 20-4 record. Expect Ivey to put up some impressive scoring numbers as he will be relied on to lead the scoring load for the Heat. The Heat will enter the 2019 season with three big men in their rotation, led by highly-ranked Caleb Furst. The 6-foot-10, 215-pound sophomore is highly-skilled and super productive, and he’s fresh off a 1A State Championship win for Blackhawk Christian. Furst dropped 16 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks in the state championship win, capping a season in which he averaged 19.3 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game. Furst is great in the post and is more than capable of taking you off the dribble, but his defense is what should stand out in the Heat uniform. He completed dominated on both ends during the high school season, and it will be interesting to see if he does that same against national competition. Junior rim-protector Kiyron Powell will play big minutes alongside Furst, and the 6-foot-10 big man from Evansville Bosse (IN) should gain plenty of interest from college coaches. Powell will need to be active on the boards and stay out of foul trouble because his length and athleticism will be problematic for the opposition if he’s playing alongside Furst and the third member of the Heat’s frontcourt, Chris Conway. EXPRESSIONS ELITE - Terrence Clarke - IU Offer Clarke (247 No. 3) is the highest-ranked recruit in program history. Blessed with elite length and athleticism, Clarke is a bouncy wing that has a refined offensive skill-set. He has an extensive bag of tricks when attacking the basket, and his impact in the transition game will be invaluable. Clarke is coming off an impressive sophomore campaign for powerhouse Brewster Academy where he operates as the youngest player on the roster. Transferring to Brewster was terrific for Clarke's development, and the 6-foot-6 playmaker will be looking to improve on his 2018 EYBL averages of 8.6 points, 2.1 rebounds & 2.0 assists in 20 games. Clarke was a 1st-Team NEPSAC AAA selection, which is relatively unheard of in the league's toughest prep league. Clarke enters the season as 'the guy' for Expressions, and he's leaning on the experience he gained in 2018. "After last season, I learned a lot from the older guys on the team," Clarke said. "The opportunity of playing for Expressions for a second year is a blessing especially on the best circuit in the country. I've worked tirelessly since we lost during Peach Jam. Now I want to show how much I've improved. Working with our director and coach Todd Quarles, I want to become more of a leader for this team as a returner to the league." TEAM WHYNOT - Nimari Burnett - IU Offer Burnett took the Nike EYBL by storm after joining the circuit midway through the 2018 campaign and he will be their unquestioned leader as they enter their second season as a program. Burnett averaged 14.8 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.9 assists in 16 games, and his production was ultimately a huge reason as to why Team Whynot was so successful in the back half of the season. Burnett stars for Prolific Prep (CA) during the high school season, and the 6-foot-4, 190-pound playmaker averaged 20.1 points, 8.0 assists, and 8.1 rebounds in 2018-19. The Chicago-native rarely misses an open jump shot and is super-crafty with the ball in his hands. After Burnett joined Team Why Not, he knew he was a part of something special. "It's great," Burnett said of having Wesbrook as a mentor. "Russell, he's always there and supportive. If he's not there, he's texting. We feel his presence everywhere we go and we just want to represent him. We just know he's a great basketball player and more importantly a great person, so we just want to go out and play well for him." BRADLEY BEAL ELITE - Caleb Love - IU Offer Love (247 No. 36) will operate as the highest-ranked recruit on the roster, and the 6-foot-3 combo guard will look to replace McKinney's production from a year ago. Love is extremely active on both ends of the floor, but his primary strength is attacking the defense and making plays for his teammates. Love will man the point for BBE, and his handles will be as good as anyone on the circuit. Love is adept at using screens to his advantage and usually makes the smart play as he's navigating the defense. He will have the ball in his hands often, and he should shine in this rotation. Love faced off against RJ Hampton at Made Hoops' 'The Warm Up', and the encounter did not disappoint. MOKAN ELITE - Davion Bradford - At IU in early March The frontcourt is heavily relying on Dante's production, so MOKAN will desperately need him to stay healthy and out of foul trouble if they have plans of competing in Division C. 7-foot, 240-pound big man Davion Bradford is an absolute load in the paint, and if he and Dante share the court together, the opposition will need a lot of luck when attacking the basket. Bradford earned conference player of the year at Melville (MO), following it with a Class 5A First Team All-State selection. CITY ROCKS - Andre Jackson - IU Offer Junior Andre Jackson also returns from a year ago, and the 6-foot-6 swingman wasn't able to accurately showcase why he's ranked 40th in 247 Sports Composite 2020 rankings. Jackson has elite athleticism and major bounce, and he'll definitely benefit from the implementation of the 24-second shot clock. Jackson is at his best when he's getting up and down the floor, and he loves getting after it defensively. Jackson, who helped Albany Academy (NY) take home the New York Federation A Championship, talked about the difference between this season and last. "I will have a much bigger role on this team this upcoming season," Jackson said. "Last year I didn’t play a very big role; I played between 6-10 minutes a game. This year, I will be playing a lot more and I feel that I am very prepared to go up against the talent that the EYBL circuit brings to the table." FAMILY DETROIT - Isaiah Jackson - IU Offer The Family's roster features five players ranked by 247-sports, and the star duties will be split between 2018 veterans Isaiah Jackson, Jalen Terry and Carlos Johnson. The 6-foot-10 Jackson (247 No. 16) is a 5-star recruit according to every major recruiting outlet, and the junior forward is just starting to tap into his potential. Jackson is a good finisher around the basket offensively, but the bulk of his impact will be noticed on the boards and as a rim-protector. Jackson averaged 6.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks per game in 2018, and he will enter the 2019 season on the short list of contenders to lead the EYBL in blocked shots. Jackson wants to be known as more than just a defender, evidenced by his answer when he was asked about what he's most eager to show off about his game. "Probably my shooting," Jackson said. "I didn’t really get to shoot the ball this season because of how my team played so I think this EYBL season everybody is going to see a lot of shooting from me." THE RENS - Ethan Morton - IU Offer The backcourt will feature three 4-star recruits in 247 Sports 2020 rankings. 6-foot-6 point guard Ethan Morton (247 Composite No. 43) returns to the fold, and he'll take on a much bigger role in 2019. Morton averaged a modest 4.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.9 assists in 21 games a year ago, and he will likely shatter those averages this spring and summer. Morton was named the WPIAL Player of the Year in Pennsylvania after a standout junior season, and he should take on a facilitating role for Borman.

Reading about his thumb injury makes me realize even more what a whiny fusspot Izzo is. I only ever heard mention of Romeo's' hand a couple times on TV and to be honest, never remember reading about it. And neither he nor Archie never brought it up. And both times we beat Sparty, Izzo started right up at the post-game presser, making excuses about injuries. I have a hard time imagining there was a team out there that dealt with more injuries than we did. On top of all the other crap that went on with Rob and Jerome and Devonte and De'Ron and Race and McBob, our best player had a torn ligament in his shooting hand most of the season -- and yet Archie never once used that as an excuse. I'm tossing any B1G loyalties out the window this weekend and I have three words for you: Go Red Raiders!
