  1. Instead of talking about a recruit that didn't choose IU, let's talk about one that did. TJD's high school career came to an end yesterday. Fell one game short of the state finals. I know nothing about Center Grove basketball but he has to be the greatest player ever at that school. 3 sectionals, 1 regional. I'm sure many awards locally. Should be 2x All-State and Mr. Basketball. I am really excited for TJD to get to IU. I think he will have a solid Freshman season and will be up for FOY. I think he could be All B1G good by his sophomore year. IU hasn't had back to back Mr. Basketball's since the late 90s. That is a good sign for Archie Miller. TJD is going to have a huge part in bringing this program back along with Rob, Al, Armaan, and the rest of this crew. He is going to be a good ambassador for this program. Rob and TJD could very well be one of the best duos in the country in two years.

  2. I was one of Brooks biggest early critics when it came to his attitude, effort, and skill level. I felt as though he was very similar to Wilkes and potentially would have trouble living up to his rating. That said he impressed me last summer and this year. It’s a miss. Nothing more and nothing less. It’s gonna happen when you go up against the schools we are for players. I personally feel some are overdramatizing the miss like it’s the end of the world. While a good player he isn’t the difference in 5-7 wins like some of you are acting. That’s absurd. That would put him on Zion Williamson’s level and he is not that. It’s a miss. Nothing more and nothing less. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

  8. Final game of the weekend and we got by Ohio U. with a final score of 6 - 4. Trainer (18-3) went the route allowing 4 runs on 7 hits; she walked 2 and struck out 7. We scored our 6 runs on 7 hits; Gabbi Jenkins the lone Hoosier to get more than 1 hit. Annika Baez with a 2-run homer in the 5th. Ladies are off until next weekend when they travel to Columbus, OH for a 3-game series with O$U.

  9. I'm more concerned with style. The ACC, for example plays a wide open style that's not as physical. Much more fun to watch. Historically, some Big Ten teams have gotten in trouble with fouls because they play a physical game and NCAA refs don't allow it. Indiana needs more talent to be sure, but I'm not sure the Big Ten doesn't need to change the way they officiate and perhaps the kinds of athletes they recruit.

  11. @ESPN_WomenHoop: The NCAA's debatable eight is out, and Rebecca Lobo says Auburn, Indiana, Tennessee and UCF will be the four teams to make the NCAA tournament. However, Princeton locked up an NCAA bid in winning the Ivy League berth shortly after the NCAA's list was released. http://www.espn.com/video/clip?id=26291580

  15. Both Rob and Durham need to become 40% 3 point shooters. I think Green actually works best off the bench in a 6th man role. I see him as a poor man's Jamal Crawford. He's probably the most skilled player on the team, definitely the most electric, but because of other shortcomings he's definitely not consistently the best. But he can be on a few nights as he was to close the season and at points last year. He's at his best when he's the primary scoring option, but he's not good enough to be the primary scoring option for the first unit. He's pretty valuable if he can carry the second unit and fill in with the starters as well. Coming off the bench also I think can help him find his role for the game, and he played more under control at the end of the season. If the offense is playing well, like at Illinois, he can play more in the flow of the offense. If the offense is stalling, like at OSU, he can up his aggressiveness. The key next year will be understanding his role and sticking to it. I think early he was pressing because he had lost his spot to Rob. By the end of the year hopefully he could see that he could still have a prominent role even without starting Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  17. In the first of 2 games today, IU Ladies crush Saint Francis 13-6 as we pounded out 12 hits including 4 home runs. 2 by Juvia Davis and 1 each from Grayson Radcliffe and Annika Baez. Davis and Radcliffe each had grand slams. Emily Goodin started and pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up 3 hits and 4 runs. She was relieved by Natalie Foor who pitched 1/3 of an inning and Tara Trainer finished it up allowing just 1 hit in 3 innings. Trainer (17-3) gets the win. Our last game of the weekend against Ohio U. will start shortly.

  18. We would have been better with Keion Brooks than without him. But the team's performance in January and February hurt us. Had Brooks announced in the fall like Jackson-Davis did we probably would have gotten him. But we didn't. I'm sure he will do well at Kentucky--maybe not one and done--but he will contribute positively. Time to move on. We have a strong enough roster to do better next year even if we add nobody else. Players have to improve upon their weaknesses over the summer. Hopefully nobody transfers and everyone is healthy. And, hopefully everyone buys in and the coaching staff figures out better how to run a more dynamic offense. I'll be cheering on the team in the NIT and I'm looking forward to a better season in 2019-2020.

  19. I saw where he had 6 surgeries in 3 years. Coach Dixon seemed supportive of JL's decision to leave and suggested he drop down a level should he want to continue to play ball. If he needs to drop down a level, that's not what IU needs.

  20. As far as kids who contribute, we lose Morgan and Romeo. We gain Hunter, Jackson-Davis, and Franklin for now and perhaps more. Thompson will be healthy. As will Phinisee and Davis. I don't see how we can be worse. Morgan was out of position all season. Romeo showed he is pretty limited for a kid ranked as highly as he was. Franklin had a senior season at least equal to Romeo; and Jackson-Davis is a flat out player. I'm not seeing worse. I'm not seeing Big Ten champ or anything either; but I don't think....21-10 is out of the question.

  28. I’ve been saying this for years. It’s half rhetorical half not but is there another conference that can match a D. Davis, K. Wesson, N. Ward, Minny’s big, and Rutgers’ big? Bulky bigs go to the Big Ten because they can show their hands and slam their body into a driving guard without a foul. That’s fine for pre 2000s basketball but that’s not how the game is played or officiated today. The Big Ten really needs to get with the times change the way they officiate games. On one of the games this week they were talking about the Big Ten not having a natty since 2000. They were stunned it’s been so long. There are two reasons for this, in my opinion. The first is how the Big Ten officiates games. The second is the fiasco at IU in that time. Like the IU administration, I don’t think the Big Ten cares about Indiana basketball all that much. As long as the Big Ten is swimming in money with huge TV contracts I don’t think they care who wins or to what level. I know some label me as a conspiracy theorist and that’s cool. However, as has been shown time and time again, where there’s big time money there is big time corruption. How much money does each school/conference get per game in the NCAA tourney...? 32. Zion is worth so much more than just the points he gets in a game. He’s that dog that gets everyone playing at a different level. Reddish and Barret are both talented but they don’t have the highest motors. I think that was exposed more with Zion out. Morgan and Romeo both went about their business this year in a similar manner. We never had that player that fired everyone else up. Could that be Thompson or Al next season? I hope we get someone like that. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners

  33. Culver continued its march for a repeat 3A championship with a 57-44 win over Marion. It was just 17-16 at halftime so clearly both teams played much better ball in the second half. Officiating was iffy with I think over 35 fouls whistled and at one point the game announcers even commented on "nickel and dime" whistles. Marion played a box and one on Galloway who finished with 15 pts on 4-9 FG; 1-4 on 3's; 6-9 FT; 7 reb; 2 stls; 1 TO; 2 blks by my unofficial scorecard. I commented before that Culver as a team plays excellent man-to-man defense. Galloway guarded Jalen Blackmon from the opening tip until Galloway picked up his 4th foul with 6 min. left in the game. Blackmon finished with 15 pts. but only had 6 while guarded by Galloway and was only 3-12 from the field during that time.

  35. Why is ESPN trash?! Dude says MSU just needs to get into the locker room after Ahrens went down. He said their head wasn’t right and they turned the ball over on their first possession after Ahrens went down. McQuaid actually hit a 3 and then they turned it over. It’s not an unusual thing for MSU to turn it over a lot though. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners

  36. Maybe not specifically 2nd but people generally remember which teams have post season success and runs and which don’t. We don’t have to hang another banner to make me happy. I just want annual top 5 or 6 seed in the NCAA. Eventually an annual top 4 seed would be my goal. Winning the whole thing requires a lot of luck and I understand that part. Assuming IU doesn’t get in, I will flat out be rooting for Tenn this year. My favorite team to watch. So cohesive and compete like crazy. Also, I think it would be great for the game to see a team without a single elite recruit and a Coach who was fired from his last gig win it.

  45. For argument sake let’s say everyone returns except Romeo. To me, the two biggest question marks will be Smith and Hunter. If Smith can be the player of MSU and Wisconsin, or at least 3/4ths of that, then we are in really good shape. If Hunter comes back 100% with plenty of off-season practice, then that will greatly elevate this team. If all of this happens, I see the starting lineup being tough to decide between 6 players: Rob Durham Hunter/Smith TJD/Smith Davis/TJD Who knows, Green could also force his way into the starting lineup playing the way he did at the end of the season. IU has the potential there when healthy and people playing to their potential. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

  48. There will be quite a few names that IU will have a shot to get in with over the next month or two. Some will be completely random, but I have heard some big names. I tweeted out the other day with no names & had several DM's linking guys like Desmond Bane, Josh Jefferson who went to New Albany & plays at Illinois State, Kris Wilkes which is doubtful as is Kyle Guy who IU fans keep hoping for & a few others. I'll do more digging. Sean McNeil is likely to have a long list to start from & with no offer yet I dont know if it would even go anywhere. Harlond Beverly is the most likely of our current targets. Lester Quinones seems to really be enjoying his Memphis visit. Tre Mitchell just cut to 6 & Umass looks good there. As every other year with coaching changes there will be some guys to hit the market. Texas A&M has been linked to Buzz Williams. UCLA will poach someone which will open up another power 5 spot most likely. I expect a grad guy but if we grab more than one transfer I'd say it'd be a sit out or special circumstance kind of thing.
