This is a nightmare scenario I can’t get out of my head. The 6 SEC teams win out besides A&M beating TX, making them all 2 loss teams. ND, PSU and OSU win out as well. We lose next week in that scenario obviously. You’ve got Oregon, SEC champ, ACC champ, B12 champ, G5 champ, and ND as locks. OSU and PSU are in ahead of us. That leaves 5 spots for IU and 4 two loss SEC teams and the 3 loss SEC team who loses their championship game. I don’t want to be IU on selection day in that scenario.

I think A&M loses to Texas.  I'm also of the opinion that Ole Miss has a good chance of losing at Florida this weekend.

Might be the most interesting game left this year for me. That’s going to be an all time atmosphere at Kyle Field.

Yeah there are a lot of things that can break our way the next 2 weeks. Not least of which is us taking care of our own business. Others that would work in our favor: PSU @ Minnesota, ND @ USC, UT @ Vandy, maybe Bama @ Oklahoma though I really doubt it. I think if any of the 6 games mentioned work in our favor, we stay ahead of that team in the rankings w/ a loss in Columbus.

I have to think that one of the remaining one loss teams will lose at some point, giving IU a clear path to the playoff.  Hosting a game is another matter.  With a loss, I don't see IU in the top 8.  (I even think there is a world that IU goes to the BIG Championship Game, loses the game, and is relegated to a 9-12 spot.)

I hope you're right on both of those. It would make it harder to leave out a 1 loss IU team if they don't win Saturday. Let's not forget a few years ago when the B1G went out of its way to make sure OSU got to the conference championship game instead of IU. No reason to think the CFP committee wouldn't do the same thing if given the chance. IU winning at OSU puts them in the playoffs but barring that, other teams losing will help IU.

Tom Herman out at FAU. Didn't even last two seasons.

Jeezus -- just a few years back, this dude was a rising star.

I'm ashamed to admit -- I wondered if he might be a good choice to replace CTA.

I wondered the same, but he just can't seem to outrun being a giant raging a-hole.

My favorite part of the article......Temple decided to fire their coach too even though they won haha.

"Herman's final game was an overtime loss at Temple on Saturday. Despite winning that game, the Owls also opted to fire coach Stan Drayton on Sunday."

Not a chance, that would mean IUFB beat the #2 team in the country and lost to the #1 or 2 (IUFB could jump to #1 after beating O$U) team in the country. They would host a game and be ranked as high as 5 or 4.

Agreed.

All 4  participants in the BT and SEC championship games will either get a bye or host a game. I’d be very surpassed if any of the 4 drop to 9th.

Agree, but, and maybe I’ve just been brainwashed by the relentless drumbeat of shameless SEC media bias, I’m convinced that if they lose Saturday they are absolutely not getting in while at least 1 3-loss SEC team almost certainly will.

Do yourself a favor and turn off ESPN. We're ranked #5 for a reason. The committee isn't just pulling random names out of thin air when selection day arrives. The only way I see us not getting in is if we get absolutely embarrassed at OSU and then win ugly over Purdue, and even that might not drop us 8 spots.

SEC coaches that have two losses already are doing what they're supposed to do. Beg for sympathy from a committee and try to convince them that a Cignetti coached football team isn't worthy enough to play in the playoffs.

The IUFB ESPN SOS is an outlier compared to other systems.  IUFB is sitting in between 55-65ish in all of the other systems.

Bottom line, being 1 of 3 schools remaining in the unbeaten ranks and accomplishing it with a P4 schedule is a worthy team to play in a 12 team playoff. Period.

Most importantly, they aren't ranked high enough!  But when they roll into Columbus and take care of business the ESPN SOS narrative is all but gone and the SEC coaches can cannibalize themselves.

Yes, you've been brainwashed. The ESPN SOS is an outlier.
