I can think of several 1070 appearances where that wasn’t the case. Anyways, carry on...

I don't necessarily have anything against the guy, but I have always had a hard time listening to him for whatever reason.

This doesn't help.

Yep. I think the winning staff has already been notified. Has he signed, dunno. It wouldn’t surprise me if it’s already official but not made public.

The job this staff has done with Langford, and this class in general, just amazes me. That and the kids he is after for 2019 makes me believe something very special is being built right before our eyes. I love the focus and going after specific needs. Coach Miller knows exactly what he is doing and why. From someone who has followed IU basketball for over sixty years, this feels really good.

I was wondering the same thing. I would have to think that it will be live streamed on some local sites. I bet ESPNU will carry it.

Can people just stop with Rakestraw. He's a great guy and I know him a bit personally. Just because he has been told something that may be incorrect does not mean he is being a contrarian or hates IU. Guy is a class act who is reporting what he has been told.

Dakich is a complete hack (and I know this as well from a family friend who knows him) and should be criticized but people need to leave Raekstraw alone just because he is reporting and been told something different than what is currently out there. Also the fact that he's telling you he hopes he's wrong obviously means he hopes he goes to IU even though he was told differently.

I hope you all realize if were not for Raekstraw 1070 (outside of Dakich) would be almost all Colts and Pacers and no college talk. He is the one that has pushed Grady and JMV to talk more IU, PU and Butler (and as station manger he has that power) and is a huge college fan and very knowledgeable about all things college including IU. Love listening him.

Sorry my hand slipped on the keyboard and didn't see I had misspelled it.

Look the guy is far from a close friend. I met him and talked to him a couple times through some mutual work we did and his passion and knowledge of college basketball is second to none. After we met I was told to email him about something and he responded within less than an hour which was very responsible. 

He is not an IU hater at all and roots for all state teams. He is reporting what he was told and doesn't deserved to be belittled and called names for that. It's embarrassing to us as a fan base to do so.

If people have other reasons for not liking him I completely understand and in that case I apologize but to think lowly of him solely because he is reporting what he was told about Langford is pretty petty.

Fair enough and you are probably right. It just seems silly to jump on him for solely reporting what he has been told especially given how much coverage he has ensured IU has received on 1070 over the years as the station manager. He's even mentioned soccer and baseball runs during postseason last few years during his segment which I can guarantee you never would of made the air without him.

Not surprised. I am sure he has been in Butler and PU gear at times also. Guy breathes college sports and is a fan of all in state teams as he should be given his role as the station manager of the main sports talk station here in Indy.

So, in summary -- we're not supposed to criticize the people you like, but we can criticize those you don't. 

As for his sources, he probably needs to be more careful about reporting what they tell him. Hell, I could tell him Romeo will announce on April 30 that he's attending Wabash College. Then he could say "a source" told him those are Langford's plans. I'm not necessarily a fan of ESPN or Tim Kurkjian, but he said something once that made a lot of sense. After "a source" told him something that he reported and turned out to be wrong, he said his policy going forward was that if a source wanted anonymity, he would grant it. But if they were wrong, he would reveal them as the bearer of the misinformation.

Absolutely not. It just seems unfair to criticize someone solely because they are reporting what they are told by a source (and yes he was definitely told this) who may or may not be right. If someone has other reasons for not liking him I completely understand.

I heard this somewhere as well ... and I couldn't help but think of Albers last year when he kept reporting that Billy Donovan was in Bloomington "I realize he was at practice, but I'm telling you he was in Bloomington today" was his quote ..... he's taken so much crap for that, you'd think he'd reveal the source that told him that .... unless of course, he completely made up the whole thing!  which, i guess is a possibility!
