FWIW, I know someone who lives near Rake and has seen him out and about wearing an IU hoodie before. I literally don't know anything more than that though.

Not surprised. I am sure he has been in Butler and PU gear at times also. Guy breathes college sports and is a fan of all in state teams as he should be given his role as the station manager of the main sports talk station here in Indy.

For sure. The reason my buddy even told me that was because I said I thought he was a Butler guy at some point.

So, in summary -- we're not supposed to criticize the people you like, but we can criticize those you don't.

As for his sources, he probably needs to be more careful about reporting what they tell him. Hell, I could tell him Romeo will announce on April 30 that he's attending Wabash College. Then he could say "a source" told him those are Langford's plans. I'm not necessarily a fan of ESPN or Tim Kurkjian, but he said something once that made a lot of sense. After "a source" told him something that he reported and turned out to be wrong, he said his policy going forward was that if a source wanted anonymity, he would grant it. But if they were wrong, he would reveal them as the bearer of the misinformation.

Absolutely not. It just seems unfair to criticize someone solely because they are reporting what they are told by a source (and yes he was definitely told this) who may or may not be right. If someone has other reasons for not liking him I completely understand.

I heard this somewhere as well ... and I couldn't help but think of Albers last year when he kept reporting that Billy Donovan was in Bloomington "I realize he was at practice, but I'm telling you he was in Bloomington today" was his quote ..... he's taken so much crap for that, you'd think he'd reveal the source that told him that .... unless of course, he completely made up the whole thing!  which, i guess is a possibility!

Albers is saying don’t put any stock into the way Romeo is announcing because of how Lebron James announced he was taking his talents to South Beach. I guess the moron isn’t aware Lebron let the public know at a closed event in a Connecticut Boys and Girls Club, not at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland in front of the general public.

I saw that too -- what a ridiculous comparison.  LeBron, in a Boys and Girls Club, just him and the journalist vs. Romeo in his high school gym with 4100 IU fans .... yeah, dont' put any stock into that ....

JMV & Dakich both talked about this yesterday .... both agreed how RIDICULOUS it would be for Romeo to pack that gym full of IU fans and say "yeah I'm going to Vandy, thanks for coming!" ....

You mean just like we shouldn't put any stock into the garbage that he says?

I can’t wait to hear the crowd when/if Romeo commits to IU. I doubt there’s been many commitments with 4,000+ fans in attendance. Would be a great endorsement for IU if it was on ESPN.

From ESPN's Jeff Borzello:

Romeo Langford (No. 5)

It’s nearing the end of the road for Langford, who has had the same three schools on his list for months: Kansas, Indiana and Vanderbilt. For most of the winter, it seemed like Indiana and Vanderbilt were battling for the lead, but Kansas has made a strong push over the last few weeks. Early decisions by Malik Newman and Lagerald Vick to head to the NBA only help the Jayhawks’ cause, opening up minutes on the wing. Meanwhile, Indiana is looking to keep Langford home and has made him a priority since the day Archie Miller took over in Bloomington last spring. Vanderbilt is hoping Langford is the missing piece to an elite recruiting class that already includes five-stars Darius Garland and Simisola Shittu. Langford has shut it down and is ready for decision time, which will come on April 30. It’s still too close to feel entirely confident about a prediction, but at this moment, the Hoosiers are earning most of the buzz. It’s also worth noting Langford is having an announcement at his high school, open to the public -- meaning there will be 4000 Indiana fans in the building.

  • Prediction: Indiana

  • Confidence level: 55 percent

  • Others in the mix: Kansas, Vanderbilt

Is borzello or Jerry Meyer more legit in this case. Meyer is WAY more confident. This seemed like a weak prediction from borzello

45 percent chance he picks anchors down or Kansas in front of 4200 iu fans. Got it.

Romeo would piss off an entire state if he invites the general public to come to his event just to announce for a different school. He knows his gym is going to be full of IU fans, just like they were all season long. It would be a huge, huge mistake, and completely unnecessary.. He and his family would have to want to create enemies to do that. He has had plenty of opportunities to announce if he was going to Kansas or Vandy.

I wonder if Greg R is going to show expecting the vandy verbal!
