Chips&Dipo Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 Getting players like TJD, AF, and KB are what will let us have consistent years as opposed to flashes in the pan like under the previous administration. Could be another great weekend for our beloved Hoosiers. Lock up Kieon and beat Butler! Side note: I don't know why, but I really hate Butler. It is basically a private college full of prep school kids that like to pretend that they are a state school. I hate that they basically stole IU's earlier identity and I hate that stupid dog. I have friends and family that went to Butler, so this is of course all tongue in cheek. I also love dogs. GO IU! Hardwood83, Hoosier Roots, thebigweave and 3 others 6 Quote
Dalton26 Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 Lots of whispers that this is the week that Keion pops for IUBB. Anyone got the goods on timing? (Yo HoosierGuy...not looking for an "I've been telling you all along" type comment) I hope so. Having Keion and TJD will be amazing. JaybobHoosier 1 Quote

darB s'tI Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 2 coaches in a row that have had better relationships with Cal than the fanbase.Their families grew up together. Miller’s and Calipari’s that is. This isn’t an alignment of Archie’s moral or ethics compass. FCTC on the other hand aspired to be calipari and associated himself in the same class from a pride/ego perspective. I don’t like Cal at all but he can recruit and can coach...albeit not in a clean way. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app thebigweave 1 Quote
Hoosierfan2017 Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 I don't see the issue with Calipari. He might not follow the rules, but the NCAA has shown they don't really care about that. I haven't seen anything from him that suggests he's morally corrupt or a bad person. thebigweave, HinnyHoosier and Hoosiers96 3 Quote
Hurryin' Hoosiers Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 Sadly, Cal never offered to have someone take my SAT test for me ;) but he has for players who have skills on the court. I guess it depends on whether or not breaking the rules makes one a bad person or morally corrupt. Hardwood83 1 Quote
Brass Cannon Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 Pretty sure Cal and Archie are cousins Quote

We're not talking about covering up crimes or enabling deviants like some coaches do. I'm neutral on Calipari. When it comes down to it, college basketball is a game. Bending the rules has been part of it since the beginning. The NCAA doesn't do anything to you if you break the rules. UNC engaged in widespread academic corruption and nothing happened to them. By knowing it exists and allowing it to continue you could argue that the NCAA has implicitly endorsed it. And really, if a coach pays a kid $100k to come to his school, who is he hurting? A good argument can be made that the players should be paid anyway. So no, I don't think Calipari is a bad person. Hillsdale87 1 Quote

Every place Cal has been, some type of rules violation has followed. To me, paying a kid $100k is not doing 60 in a 55. You are gaining a clear advantage over anyone who is following the rules. It's more like driving 100 mph, never stopping for stop lights, and running people off the road because they are in your way. If you are really concerned about the student athlete, work to change the rules instead of using it as an excuse to gain an advantage. Deserthoozier, Josh, IUsafety and 2 others 5 Quote
Popular Post Str8Hoosiers Posted December 12, 2018 Popular Post Posted December 12, 2018 Understand derailments happen from time to time, but I have already moved a full conversation about Butler to the game thread.... Lets please try to keep the Recruiting Threads player specific! Thanks for cooperation. mamasa, Hoosier Roots, Stuhoo and 8 others 8 3 Quote
