(2015) C Thomas Bryant to IU

Recommended Posts

If he doesn't pick IU, does that affect how Glass views the roster being built or whatever the heck it was he said?

Sad thing is he couldn't do anything about it then even if he wanted to. He can't risk how it would look if he fired Crean for not getting 1 recruit.

It would have to. Would be really say if next year's team is "done".

Good quote from that article though- Sums up my feelings on this whole situation:

"If the Hoosiers are able to add Morgan, Anunoby, and Bryant while maintaining the core of this basketball team - Indiana would be an incredibly dangerous team next season and with Tom Crean's coaching seat growing white hot, a commitment by Thomas Bryant could change the course of history for this Indiana program and Tom Crean himself."

Not calling you out, or at least not my intention, but wasn't Cody Zeller suppose to change our history for the better. Or the Movement. Cody helped, but not a ton has actually changed

"Bryant is expected to make his college announcement in the days after the completion of the Dick's Nationals, which take place April 2-4 in New York City. His final choices for college include (in no particular order) are Kentucky, Indiana, Syracuse and Missouri."

Possibly before...

So basically whenever our next transfer happens and a spot opens up? Sounds good to me.

He did help change our history for the better. Unfortunately, we could not sustain that positive change. We need a coach who can create a consistent culture and program so when we sign players like Zeller, we're already poised to capitalize on their talent.

The question is, if we land him, will Crean use him correctly?

Crean has shown us nothing to believe he will. Its sad but getting Bryant may be bad for IU in the long run. Same goes for Thon. I see us being very competitive in the B1G (probably not winning tho) only to flame out in the S16 to an inferior team. This will be enough for Fred to retain Crean and knowing Fred, maying give him an extension. Really hope Crean proves me wrong tho.

If we land him and all meaningful contributors return, we could actually be really, really good next year.

And if somehow we get Thon Maker, that would just catapult us to B1G favorites in my opinion.  There wouldn't be any reason those players couldn't win the conference or make a deep tournament run.

Oh there is one glaring reason lol

Of note: Josh Cunningham averaged 7.9 ppg and 7.5 rpg his freshman year for Bradley. On the 25th of February against Missouri State he had 15 points and 21 rebounds.

I think he also got hurt and was out for a long time this year

Frankly, I honestly don't see us landing either Bryant or Maker. Why would those guys come here and be "coached" by Crean? What has CTC shown anyone about his ability to coach and develop players? Look at the history.

Cody and Vic did the work themselves. Vonleh seemed to check himself out about midway through the year.

Either could go elsewhere for a year before heading to the league and make some real noise in the college ranks. As much as it pains me to say, pUKe is always turning over 5-6 guys and like it or not, slimy Calipari can coach.

Sorry disappoint you then because most all the experts are saying its almost a lock that Bryant comes here. I don't want Crean to stay more than anyone else but all signs are pointing to him staying so ya

Bryant is a must get it seems.  However, it's hard to see adding him making us B10 favorites.  Maryland is getting a higher rated big man, Michigan State might land another in Swanigan, Purdue will have two experienced bigs.  Maker would be a difference maker (if only for one season), but I don't see us out recruiting UK or KU.  Reason for optimism, albeit measured optimism.  Missing on TB, on the other hand, yikes.

Appears we are betting the farm on getting this kid. Anybody think he can realistically live up to the expectations?

Don't know exactly the expectations but he is the 22nd ranked player in his class. He's tough and can finish through contact and rebound out the wazoo so he adds something that we severely lack

Only if they are tempered.  I don't follow recruiting as close as many, but by some things I've read TB would appear to need to add a lot of muscle (one site lists him at 217 pounds).
