WayneFleekHoosier Posted March 10, 2018 Posted March 10, 2018 I have to think UConn is too big of a stage. Tom would do much better at a school that doesn't have lots of pressure to perform every year. His family is in Florida now so I could see him looking at Georgia once Mark Fox gets fired. Yeah, you are probably right but Crean and his ego wants a school that can contend for the big one. Question is, does that school want him? WayneFleekHoosier Posted March 10, 2018 Posted March 10, 2018 You nailed it Doc - Crean's ego!In general, I want my head coach to have a big ego in the sense that he expects to win and that he is better than all his adversaries. Problems arise when results don't match the ego and the ego won't allow the person to change things to get those results to match. They've got multiple NCAA problems right now and given Tom's record of cleaning up our mess, UConn could bring him in as a mea culpa and hope the NCAA goes light on them. Now, whether UConn is willing to give him a 9 year leash like we did is an entirely different matter. Josh 1 Quote
WayneFleekHoosier Posted March 10, 2018 Posted March 10, 2018 And now Mark Fox reported to be out at Georgia. Can't recruit against the $$$ of the $EC. Crean would get smothered down there, imo. New $EC would eat him alive. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Josh and ALASKA HOOSIER 2 Quote

AKHoosier Posted March 10, 2018 Posted March 10, 2018 So Tubby Smith is really throwing a wrench into Memphis' dream to fire him and get Penny Hardaway. They just keep winning haha. If they beat UC today in the semifinal, they'd be 22-12 with a good chance of getting an at-large bid, and of course would play tomorrow for the auto-bid. Surely they won't fire him after making a run to get to the tournament right? IUsafety 1 Quote

LamarCheeks Posted March 10, 2018 Posted March 10, 2018 Hmmm ... Could a certain bespectacled, overly-tan, gum-chomping, sideline-pacing, pants-pulling-uping (?) coach we're all familiar with be headed to the SEC and Athens, Ga.? https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/georgia-fires-mark-fox-after-nine-seasons-tom-crean-a-possible-replacement/ WayneFleekHoosier and ALASKA HOOSIER 2 Quote

Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app I saw the same thing about Hurley. And that Pitt might be interested, too. But he apparently turned them down before the Stallings hire ... I actually think UGa might not be a bad fit for Crean. Down there, it seems basketball is just something to pass the time between football and spring football. If he went to the NCAAs 50 percent of the time, I'm guessing they'd be somewhat pleased. The question: Can he do that? Basketball obviously is not top dog (pardon the pun) there, which might suit him better than at IU, where hoops is king. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote
TheWatShot Posted March 10, 2018 Posted March 10, 2018 I remember Marquette fans telling us about how Marquette and IU were good places for Crean because Marquette doesn't have football and our football program stinks. They said if he coached at a place with a strong football team, he'd feel threatened by their success and start going after their football coach. ALASKA HOOSIER and Class of '66 Old Fart 2 Quote
