If Edey stays and they get Pack they’ll be very good. With neither? Not looking good at all. And Painter has some bottom of the conference years in the past. Quote
WayneFleekHoosier Posted April 6, 2022 Posted April 6, 2022 I think Purdue is going to be better than what a lot of people think. Edey can be unguardable at times. Gillis is a good stretch 4. Furst is solid everywhere. Kaufman will likely surprise lots of folks who forgot about him. He would have played a prominent role for us if not for injuries. Newman???, If they get Pack or something similar they will have lofty expectations. I’m not too worried about Loyer, Smith, incoming class too much. jk34 Posted April 6, 2022 Posted April 6, 2022 Guard play wins and loses games in college. Case in point: Carolina last night. PU is losing around 34 pts, from their starting guards/wings. I believe they have the frontcourt depth to match up with anyone. Quote

This plus Gillis, Furst, Morton etc. is a good offense in Painter’s hands. But Trevion was their preferred 5 for D. Hunter got all-conference defensive recognition, deservedly. Ivey could at least flip an athletic switch. Pack’s many things but probably not a plus PG defender right now. So dial back Purdue’s national-best offense a little, and dial back their suspect defense even more, if this comes to pass. AKHoosier, jk34, thebigweave and 1 other 4 Quote

They've got some good pieces but the portal is gonna need to be kind to them. lillurk 1 Quote

Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app Yes, Edey could be unguardable at times but far more often, especially late in the season, he was unplayable a lot of time. Once teams figured out how to deal with Purdue and Edey, it was always Williams that was in at the end of the game in close games. Edey has a long, long way to go before he can carry a team. He has a long way to go before he is more than simply a huge physical mismatch. Purdue should be real strong in the forward positions but without significant upgrades in the guard spots, that's going to be of limited use. I don't see their defense improving enough to help much either. AKHoosier 1 Quote

Loaded Chicken Sandwich Posted April 7, 2022 Posted April 7, 2022 I have FINALLY finished ranking all 76 teams of the power conferences. Any guesses where Indiana ranks? Any guesses on the #1 team? The Top 5? The worst program of the last decade? Quote

I think a couple of UK's questionable seasons keeps them out of the top spot. Kansas? Loaded Chicken Sandwich 1 Quote
