I wonder if the comment about IU needing to do more work in the facilities department was made before the new players lounge and locker room were completed, although it is true Minnesota and Nebraska have better facilities which is unacceptable.

I also don’t think it is unreasonable for the fans to expect Michigan State, Wisconsin, Ohio State, or Michigan type success. Hopefully the days of idiots undermining and mismanaging the program are gone.

Completely agree and would take it a step farther, I think it's unreasonable not to have those expectations. None of those schools care about basketball as much as IU's fan-base. None of them have any inherit advantages either. In fact, only OSU is even close, IMO. IU should be the class of the B1G, like Mich State has become and we as a fan-base shouldn't accept any less.

They listed us 6th in facilities, 6TH!

This is conducted now by The Athletic and the Columbus Dispatch (used to just be the latter, IIRC). 28 media members from around the conference coverage area participated.

Order of Finish
1. Michigan State

2. Michigan

3. Indiana

4. Nebraska

5. Purdue

6. Wisconsin

7. Maryland

8. Ohio State

9. Minnesota

10. Iowa

11. Penn State

12. Northwestern

13. Illinois

14. Rutgers

That’s relatively close to my own. The top 3 are inexactly the same order. I have Purdue 4th, Wisconsin 5th but it’s close. They’ve got Minnesota a shade higher than I do but if everything breaks right and they stay healthy, that kind of finish is certainly possible. They’ve also got OSU much higher than I do…we’ll see if Holtmann makes me look bad two years running. I just think they go from a very experienced core to one where they’re relying on a lot of youth and I think it’s going to show up.

MSU was 1st on 22 of 28 ballots and 2nd on the remaining 6. That’s a pretty definitive #1 according to the media guys. Personally, while I expected MSU to be the consensus favorite (and they are), I also think the league has less at the top than it had a year ago, so it doesn’t feel much like last year’s preseason, even though the view in terms of order of finish is pretty similar.

The bigger surprise to me was seeing Winston as 1st Team All Big Ten. Not that I don’t think he can end up there but I thought there might be a little more support for Cowan from Maryland. Haven’t seen a vote total so maybe it was close. Good for him getting that kind of recognition and I absolutely think he could make good on it.

Oh look, Indiana 4th best recruiting base. Number 1 and 2? Rutgers and Maryland.

No one panic, but East Coast recruiting seems to be consider better!

DMV plus New York. Bigger range. That’s why it is important to build a national brand on top of attracting the best local talent.

I’d like to know if Crean would still be coaching if we landed Gary Harris, Trey Lyles, Jaren Jackson, Kris Wilkes, Blueitt, Irvin etc.

Crean also was not routinely landing the best guys from the DMV, and frankly was having to resort to project players.

We also lacked in at least one area most seasons.  No bigs one season and zero shooting the next.  If he would have landed some of those players it would have fixed our problems but I don't think it would have completely masked our ability to adjust mid game.

I'm excited about this years team because we have, what seems like, a good mixture of players.  A BIG low post player, more athletic bigs and wings, shooters (big and small), dynamic guards, players willing and able to defend, etc.  The one thing I'll be curious to see is who gets the ball late, JMo on the block or Romeo up top.

One reason why I think last years class was so important. Got players of pretty much every type allowing us to go after studs and even if we miss we can plug a 4 star sophomore in.

The next best firing to help our program. Maybe TV Teddy can reunite this season with our first best reason.

That ******* had no business being a referee with all of the crap he pulled. I remember that game and Valentine was way out of line.

HIghtower was always classy and in control.  He was very impartial and fair regardless of the venue.

One of the greats!

Valentine on the other hand....
