WayneFleekHoosier Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago The body language from the coaches in the last 10 minutes of that game was something. DeVries couldn’t get that game over quick enough. First guy on the bench was very demonstrative. Between Sisley, and Conerway, some chemistry stuff has been going on with this group/staff. Not as dramatic as other teams, but sine stuff. How are we gonna win recruiting battles in portal without overpaying now? Lol. Pay more to pay less later. We screwed up so badly by not recruiting a winning roster in year 1. It would be nice if this program had anything resembling a positive culture or a foundation. Right now it's a truck-stop program in flyover country. BannerVille 1 Quote

You can argue the rule he broke was dumb (and I would agree with you), but it was still a rule for which he continued to break even after the Oklahoma infractions dropped. He received a 5 year show cause for the violations at IU, so there was no way in hell we were keeping him. This is not hard. 99% of other programs were doing far worse…fake classes, tampering, Katina Powell and these were blue bloods. …Sampson never would’ve have gotten a show cause except WE, NOT the NCAA, WE, self reported. Any other school, you NEVER EVER hear about phone calls because it’s never reported and championships are won instead. We could’ve easily dealt with the personnel issue…he’s certainly leaned from it with the culture and kids he’s recruited at Houston. In an alternate universe, we NEVER hear about phone calls, we have 2 or 3 more banners hanging on the wall, and he’s being celebrated as a HOF coach at Indiana. Oklahoma…home of Barry Switzer and Mark Stoops…was where he was first caught and put on probation. Not only would other schools have done what IU did, but EVERY school not as pious as Oklahoma (so all of them) would’ve done it. That’s how stupid Simpson was. Had nothing to do with IU. pumpfake, NatHillIV and BannerVille 3 Quote

It’s not wrong. We self reported lmao. It wasn’t the NCAA. It had everything to do with us. Also, no other school would’ve done what we did. We know this because most schools were doing far worse and didn’t do anything. Phone calls is such a minor rule it shortly became legal after all this. Quote

The whole situation was 100% on Sampson - not on IU for not covering it up. There are many factors in the disintegration of IU basketball and Sampson's cheating butt is but one of them. Hoosier987 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago 29 minutes ago, str8baller said: Oklahoma did. That disproves your contention outright. My last comment because this could go on all night. One school. A school at that time who cared much more about their football program. Certainly, Duke, UNC, Louisville, UK and all the other basketball blue bloods wouldn’t. We did, and we’ve paid for it for 20 years. Again, I said 99% of schools would never self report and therefore you or I, never hear of this and we are winning championships. That is a fact. This is phone calls. Flipping phone calls. Not fake classes, not hookers, not illegally paying players, but phone calls. I and a lot of others see things differently, and it continues to get clearer as the years go by and we hear of all the other problems - including Blue Bloods - and issues they were protecting at this time. But phone calls. Sorry, I’m winning championships. Quote

NW played the way DeVries said we’d play this year. They were locked in, hustling, battling, quick twitch, together. They zapped our offense totally in the second half by being more engaged at each spot all the time. Rico 1 Quote

IUFootballHappyHappyJoyJoy Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago This is a loss that knocks us out of consideration for the tournament. And because we're too good for the lesser events, our season ended today. Quote
