If Cig and crew can find some little detail to exploit in Miami’s lines this thing could be a blowout. Gotta trust the coach. The waiting stinks but the extra days only benefit us in this scenario.

I think it’s going to be. Miami is Susceptible to those grind it out drives.

They count on getting pressure with their regular guys and not blitzing. I don’t think they get the needed pressure with their regular guys and when they start trying to Blitz Mendoza will torch them.

I haven’t gone back and watched but somebody told me that when OSU threw in some RPO they had some success they just hadn’t played enough of it.

I am tired of not predicting enough points for IU about 80% of the time this football season.

IU  52

a frustrated wore down Miami team 17 including a score during mop up time possibly aided by a ref no call for holding.

The halftime “feels like” temperature is currently predicted to be in the high 40’s.

Trust me….that will dissuade a number of the potential last minute Miami buyers.

I would actually prefer if we played with slightly higher tempo than usual in some series. Bull and Matador's high energy attack needs time to recharge. Keep them moving and they'll run out of ~~mana~~ gas right quick. Don't need to do it the whole game or with a specific tendency, just enough so they slow themselves down a few degrees to keep their reserves up.

I haven't had time to sit down and watch the whole game at once, but I'd say that's an accurate description of the OSU game. Their defense is not built to handle uncertainty. That does mean establishing the run will be critical and they're very good at limiting rushing yardage which I would identify as one of the things our D doesn't do quite as well.  Either team averaging 4 ypa on a decent number of attempts would be a good sign for that team. It would be hard to lose at 5 ypa.

OSU struggled to run the ball outside of the RPO and Just Sayin is too inexperienced and too little of a run threat for them to rely on it with any consistency. Even so, it was fairly successful which I would consider a big positive for us.

I have watched a good amount of film and analysis for this game* (I'm definitely going to get chewed out over the drop in my billables this month) and the one x-factor I still have not seen anyone talking about is our ability to tackle. It's surprising because it's one of the things that jumps out at me in every single game. My wife would probably be very happy if I stopped mentioning it so often, honestly. I can't help it! It's textbook. Keep low, shoulder down, head up, hands around the waist. It just doesn't seem to be tracked very well in the metrics. Miami's run game is similar to ours in that a ton of yards come after contact. I suspect they will struggle to fall forward as frequently as they're used to.

Idk if it’s bad luck or what, but every time I get in the truck, there is either a Miami or ACC person on Sirius College Sports. The conversation is always about how great Miami’s d-line is and all the ways they can win if things go right. Then at the end of the call most of them pick IU. It’s driving me nuts.

Hopped in the truck to get the kids from school. That annoying “It’s All About the U” song bringing them back from commercial. I can’t make it up.

Heading to youth basketball practice, Carson Beck on for a live interview.

I think you’re right about the drives. Not so much grind it out. High Tempo short yardage plays.  Send Becker down the sideline once in awhile to keep em guessing. Make them run out of gas.

And you are so right about the tackling. So many times against OSU would even average tackling have doomed us and then somebody would have a great tackle to stop a play in its tracks

I'm not really worried about this game. Miami is a good team, they're good against the run and have some players that could be problems; a loss would suck but wouldn't be surprising. Plus this has already been an extraordinary season by IUFB standards. 2 years in we won the B1G, left Bama somewhere along the highway in Pasadena, and if we beat the Ducks any worse PETA would've gotten involved. Recruiting looks to be on the upswing and the team is fundamentally sound and disciplined. Winning it all would be icing on what's already been a very sweet treat.

That said, I would thoroughly enjoy it if we went BTA on them. So I hope the team and staff got new belts, the last ones have to be wore out.

I would 100% agree with you if we were playing Ole Miss or Oregon for the championship, but Miami fans are awful. I don't need us to win as much as I need them to lose.

I agree that this is a great year no matter what but…….the difference between winning the Natty and coming in second is HUGE.

To forever being able to say you were the National Champion, vs being a “Purdue FF almost team”, is massive. I think, and hope, Cig and the boys will get it done.

We are going to drag Miami to the deep end and hold the under till them bubbles stop.

I thought the trajectory for IU basketball was up when we lost to Maryland in the finals. You give it your all because you never know what might happen. That being said, there’s great comfort knowing our players and coaches are absolutely going to give everything they have to win. I’m just trying to block out Miami fans and just enjoy the moment.

That'll be $6,969, cheapskate. Have fun in section 420.
It'd be funny if someone sends him tix for Saturday.
