Class of '66 Old Fart

IUBB vs Marquette - Sunday, 11.09.25 @ 1:00 ET on ESPN

Good for IU to have a basketball guy for a coach that knows….and T.D. just simply carrying over what he did at Drake to IU….and coach D.D. and son knows how to make it work.  Excellent win.

Yes, but that was at home. We are always good for a few big home wins even when we suck.

This is more like how Louisville showed up vs us last year in Bahamas. Neutral court, new coach and new roster. Came out and dominated and set the tone for a great first season.

Good point.

I think there is a bonus positive today of shooting this well in an NBA arena.  I don’t have the stats, but over the last decade it seems like we’ve shot the ball extra bad in NBA arenas, which of course is serious issue in the BTT and postseason…

Tons to like.

Spacing, shooting, shot selection, turnover ratio etc etc.

One of the very few things I didn’t like was a a few possessions in a row in which the ball really seemed to “stick” with Conerway.  Yep, not earth shattering but keep that ball moving.

Yea, he seemed a little troubled by all the high pressure. Not ideal for your primary ball handler but maybe just an off game.  On the flip side, Lamar did a nice job of breaking down the defense by getting into the lane and then made them pay with some nice alley oops.

Ooh I love that comp.

Trent played really well today.

Yeah, we have a very senior heavy roster but nice to see we might have a 4 year contributor on the roster. It would be nice to have some holdovers each year and unless something unforeseen happens, you can count on him being here

A few mistakes, but I thought he and Enright did a great job overall. Only 8 TO in a 77 possession game against a full court press is outstanding stuff.

The game is on ESPN, so it matters not for this game about ABC. But in Arizona, they don't' carry any of ABC, CBS or NBC.
From their "fine print":
Channels Offered in Select Markets
Some local channels including ABC, FOX and NBC are only available in select markets. See which local channels are available in your area here.

So glad I still have DISH

Biggest takeaway for me, we finally, truly have a strong basketball mind again on the sideline, who knows how to team build.

I don’t want to use the phrase “we’re back” - but we are back to good Indiana basketball, and with DeVries I think that’s going to be true going forward for a long time. The last 8-9 years of bsd basketball is over.

It’s like the players like each other

I’ve said it before but DDv hammered the “team culture” point in every interview after his hiring. Guys who buy into their roles, and buy into eachother, can be greater than the sum of their parts. It’s an obvious point, but something we didn’t see the last four years.
Creating a roster that fits the above isn’t easy in this day and age
