I doubt he wins the trophy but that last drive and throw is what you want to see from a Heisman level QB.

We've blown out most teams so there hasn't been many times we've had to tell him 'go win it'.

Perhaps.  I’m not exactly disagreeing.

One might say Fernando had the Iowa drive to take the lead late in the 4th, the Oregon drive after the pick-six (wasn’t totally his fault, but some of his fault) to take the lead midway through the 4th, and yesterday.  Those are some memorable moments in tough road games.

He and Sayin are both around +160 or 170 right now.  Decent chance (knock on wood) this comes down to the B1G Championship game performances / winner.

Personally, while it would be cool, I don’t care much about the Heisman and its popularity contest nature.  Obviously the on field results matter a million times more and I’m also more interested in Fernando getting a great draft pick and big ol’ contract.  Future potential QBs will notice that the most.

I think him winning it is more a reflection on the team entering the realm of accepted programs.

Some members of the media are hyping Sayin and Simpson up so much.  Both guys who have done less with more talent around them.  Because Alabama and OSU are supposed to win Heismans.

Good to see the board back ,was trying hard to get in all day yesterday . What a game and what a way to end it .Amazing  PSU is not as bad as their record shows .Glad to get the first ever win on the road there . Next game can't take for granted Wisconsin they did beat Washington and now with their coach actually changing things up to get the first conference win . Then we get the bye .

Coach Cignetti sure has made Pam Whitten a better Indiana University President and Scott Dolson a much better Indiana University AD…..because they are always right in the middle of the action supporting the Indiana University football program success…..

Sidenote:  Scott D is supportive of other athletic programs as well and one of the strengths of Pam W is her support of athletic programs much more so than recent IU presidents.

I think going forward would like to see a lot of Cooper in the slot and Becker/Sarratt on the outside. Williams can rotate in and out. I think this could open the run a lot more too. Charlie Becker’s run blocking was pretty great too.

That’s the decision we’re stuck with since we don’t have our kickoff guy that can reliably put it through the back of the endzone. Singleton is a really good kick returner and we weren’t tackling worth a crap yesterday. Probably the lesser of two evils to squib it and play defense.

Yeah, but you might want to kick it bit further. :)

Watching some highlights it looks to me like a lot of the Penn state comeback was due to the ref getting in the way of ponds. The big run that got given up gave Penn state excellent field position and tons of energy.

Reminds me of the Maryland game last year with Hemby and the ref

Wasn’t it Ponds on that one too? It was basically the same play just going left instead of right.

That didn’t help. But if you want to be brutally honest the one thing we’re still not elite at is along the LoS. We got wore down and PSU still has excellent talent that started to take its toll. A testament to the toughness of our guys that they pulled through.

We are elite but thin for sure.  We need more depth everywhere. So when we get into a punchers match with a team with NFL talent we aren’t at a disadvantage.

The offensive line not being able to handle and let the offense control the game hurt for sure as well.

Cigs project last offseason seemed to be to get all our positions capable of going toe to toe with the big boys.  This offseason need to build the bench
