Can anybody confirm? I don’t follow his show so I don’t know for sure, but Pat currently has two weeks with no videos on his YouTube channel. So, he may have been on some kinda break. Quote

AKHoosier Posted July 12 Posted July 12 I'd love to get him of course but the below from an ON3 article is why celebration will be a little muted for me. The bidding won't stop when he commits somewhere. The Sales camp adds that they remain engaged with each program regarding revenue share and NIL negotiations and a final decision has not been made. skhoosier2 1 Quote

Sales Agree 100%. This whole bidding war thing for high school kids is distasteful to me. He may be a great talent but not worth a disproportionate share of our available funds. I also worry about his expectations and maturity level. Both things that could be problematic. At the end of the day, I fully trust what Cignetti decides to do. Hardwood83 1 Quote
Pagoda Posted July 12 Posted July 12 I get it feels weird and we'd like players to commit to schools because they love the program like we do. But while they're high school kids, they're also pro athletes with a short window to maximize their earnings as football players. They don't know how long their high earnings window will last -- they're one injury from a much shorter pro career. Any professional with job options, from accountants to a pro football players, is going to spend some time getting the best and final offer from each prospective employer. It's hard to blame recruits for doing this standard practice. Everything Monshun is doing seems pretty normal for probably 95%+ of 3* and up recruitments. With him the whole process is amplified because he's the top rated WR in the class, but he's not doing anything out of the ordinary. If we don't get Monshun, we can still get the next Nick Marsh from the portal. It's nice we don't need to have him. We'll see what happens... I agree that getting guys into the NFL will be of great help. No doubt. That being said…..it kind of cracks me up when Georgia/OSU/Oregon etc get a ton of credit for “developing” first/second round picks that were the first or second highest rated recruits at their position coming out of high school. They are great developers of talent because they can get the best high school players in the country into the NFL ?? Cig has helped get zero to low three star guys in the league. I would think/hope that resonates with recruits. HoosierReb01, cthomas, go iu bb and 2 others 5 Quote

Yeah kid seems to be handling this like a pro. Keeping it locked in and focused. And seriously kid seems great his twitter is almost entirely congratulating other players on their commitments and giving them love. I like how you mention that though in high school they are “pro” athletes. A friends son plays WR and is taking visits to MAC/group of 5 tier schools. When not in season he is competing in 7v7 stuff, receiver camps etc. runs track to work on speed and overall athleticism but generally is working his tail off to prepare. HoosierReb01 1 Quote

He's been told by multiple programs how good he is and that's a lot to handle at his age. And I'm sure most of those programs are telling him he is starting from day one. And a few months ago when some were predicting a commitment to IU was imminent I saw a social media post allegedly from him denying it in a pretty over the top language. I understand that I am old and young people today are different. The human brain isn't fully developed until about 25 so kids don't always think before they act. I hope he finds the right fit and is successful. But even Cig has said that high school kids are harder to accurately evaluate. All I was implying was that patience is a virtue for anyone playing for coach Cignetti. If Sales is good with that, welcome aboard. skhoosier2 1 Quote
