Last thing I’m worried about is the staff coach DeVries is going to assemble.  Regardless of who it will be it will be an actual college basketball staff with a clear plan.   I will let others do the worrying

He did!  But, did he also say it wasn't a completely empty roster as if someone could be coming back?  Or did I hear that wrong?  Assume he's referring to Goode?

Yeah, that's the thing. He might be the guy that covers IUBB the most, but I don't know how much more "plugged in" he is than other insiders. That doesn't mean I won't listen to what he's saying because, as was mentioned, I as a fan will take any information that's provided as a form of entertainment, but he hasn't really given any unique insider info from what I have read.

At this point, I want the other 2 assistant coaches to be hired already. That should help recruiting players from the portal since they'll already have connections with some and plus players will know who they'll be working with next year.

Is anyone hearing new names or still the TT and Alabama guys?

Hopefully whoever the rest of the assistants are can be finalized and announced today or Monday at the latest…

Is it possible we are waiting to officially hire these assistants because of buyouts becoming smaller after a certain date.

Pure speculation but it is possible that when DDV met with individual players they discussed the player would enter the portal but the player was told he would be welcome to rejoin the team if he wished.

Maybe he is just finishing his job out strong like a professional.  Just a guess.

But, and I get everyone thinks he is coming, watching this process it doesn’t really feel like he is coming to IU.

Most assistant coaches don't have buy-outs. CDD is still finding people or he has his staff and it just hasn't been announced. I don't think anything too abnormal is occuring.

If he had his staff he would’ve announced it…because if you don’t have a full staff it’s very hard to consistently recruit good players. It would make very little sense to have a staff in place and not announce.

I'm sure he has his new staff working the phones currently. New staff members being announced comes down to quotes, backgrounds being written by the SID, etc., I'd hope they are a bit too busy to gather a quote for a press release.
