TheWatShot Posted March 22, 2025 Posted March 22, 2025 After the last two years, it's so jarring to see UConn look slower and a lot less athletic than Oklahoma. MemphisHoosier 1 Quote
HoosierFan1994 Posted March 22, 2025 Posted March 22, 2025 My thoughts after the first round: What we are seeing in college football is what we ultimately are seeing in college hoops. College Football is ran by the Big Ten, SEC, and Notre Dame. They have all the top recruiting classes. 8 of the 12 teams in the playoff were from that group. College Hoops is run by the Big Ten, SEC, and Big 12. They have 22 of the 32 teams left. I kinda thought the portal COULD help mid majors. You may see someone leave an SEC school and go to a mid-major and explode. That does happen. However, I think the gap is just getting bigger. Really McNeese and Drake were the only upsets. In Evansville UE and USI were both awful this year. Their best players hit the portal. Tells you all you need to know about Mid-Majors. Don't get me wrong, I am not a fan when a Loyola, George Mason, or VCU makes the final four. They run out of gas and it usually makes for a crappy Elite 8 or Final 4 game. As a fan I want to see good games in the later round. That being said, I think the Thursday/Friday of the NCAA Tournament is all about a McNeese or a Drake. Just sad there aren't as many this year. Bottom line: Just don't see how a fan base/university/alumni can get excited about a mid-major program when the players leave every year and the coach leaves for a better job once they have success. tkbbn 1 Quote

go iu bb Posted March 22, 2025 Posted March 22, 2025 After the Round of 64, both the SEC and B1G have 8 teams left. The SEC just needed 14 teams in the tournament to accomplish that. Conference Record Teams still alive SEC 8-6 8 Big 12 6-1 6 Big Ten 8-0 8 Big East 4-2 3 WCC 2-0 2 Mountain West 2-2 2 ACC 2-3 1 The top team in the SEC are obviously some of the best in the nation and I'd say better than the top teams in the B1G. I think it's pretty obvious they probably didn't deserve 14 teams in at the expense of leaving out teams like IU. The ACC is looking weak, as expected. Even though it worked out to our advantage and people were ready for IU's season to be over, putting UNC and Texas in over IU and WVU is starting to look even worse than it did at the time. https://www.sportingnews.com/us/ncaa-basketball/news/march-madness-record-conference-big-ten-big-east-acc/c47bd6b748fa897705797d94 HoosierHoopster, tkbbn and MemphisHoosier 3 Quote

LIHoosier Posted March 22, 2025 Posted March 22, 2025 Purdon't loses or we get a season ending 'pic'. With our sad state of affairs, this is the closest win-win we'll get. Uspshoosier 1 Quote
TheWatShot Posted March 22, 2025 Posted March 22, 2025 Not sure Purdue could have gotten a better draw. Watching the selection show last Sunday, when they announced Clemson and McNeese I thought to myself, hope Purdue isn't the 4 here, and then they were. McNeese wasn't even that impressive Thursday, Clemson was just epically bad. pumpfake, Stuhoo and go iu bb 3 Quote
TheWatShot Posted March 22, 2025 Posted March 22, 2025 On the flip side, I'm in second place in one of my groups, behind a Purdue fan whose remaining bracket is nearly identical to mine. He actually had McNeese winning this game, and I had Purdue. So, there's that. Being a typical Purdue fan, he named his bracket "IU Couch Champs 2025." HoosierHoopster 1 Quote

cbp4iu Posted March 22, 2025 Posted March 22, 2025 IU should have been in over: SDST Texas Vandy in my opinion after watching some of these teams I’ve kinda was like IU would beat them. Most disappointing teams of the 2025 season: IU Kansas Marquette Clemson Quote
