B1G has had some mediocre coaches, that’s going away fast.

Going to be a lot of hard fought well coached games. Just from a bball enjoyment perspective, B1G is going to be a lot of fun to watch. 
And looking forward to the day whiney Izzo is gone, can’t be too long now

About 10-12 or so of the 18 schools have the resources to do damage.  Harder to separate ourselves.  NIL, coaching, and opportunities seem the way.  
 

I don’t think we ever get to the UConn/Kansas/Dunk level of dominating the conference from a recruting standpoint even with our NIL advantage.  
 

Gonna have to go on an impressive run to climb the ladder.

Stirtz family is a big time Kansas State family.  He grew up wanting to play for them. That could be interesting to watch.

Believe this is going to be an absolute problem for the B1G, if not by next year then definitely in 3 or 4 years. Curious to see how much recruiting overlap we end up with due to the shared Iowa roots. 
 

Hopefully ole D squared kills it so much here that we won’t even remember that McCollum was a serious candidate for IU.

They will be a regular tournament team if I had to guess. He is a good coach but he isn’t some elite coaching genius.

Utah St HC Jerrod Calhoun apparently the guy at West Virginia, per a bunch of sources. Sounded like there was never anyone else. Was an Asst there for several years.

I have watched a few Drake games now, and I think Ben McCollum can coach the game. Also, I just don't know if he's this one of a kind coaching genius either. Missouri should have beat them and almost did playing the dumbest defense you could think of vs McCollum's offense. Texas Tech did fairly methodically. I understand there was a talent disparity, but also high level D2 players are not much different that mid-major all-conference guys. There are many reasons why guys end up in D2 but have D1 talent. He's a good coach, and I do expect him to win plenty of games at a power conference school with the right fit, but I also am not sold at all on him being the next great coach.

Texas fired a guy after 3 seasons,  who made the tournament every season, and made it to the elite 8 once. Yeah, Indiana is the program and fanbase with unrealistic expectations?

I know he can coach but just oozes sleaze and lack of character.I don't think I could like him no matter how much he won.

I’m not sure how successful he will be at Iowa. With their issues with NIL, he will be at a consistent talent deficit. He won’t be winning the conference or going deep in the tournament with a consistently undermanned roster compared to the top of the conference.
