Hard to gauge turning a corner v bad teams at home. This is still a team that was picked to finish second. Let’s be for real if this IU team plays up tempo teams with decent shooters they will get blown out. Myles Rice for all the bad mistakes he makes… He makes a lot of things happen on offense. The game when he gets 2 early fouls happens… IU will lose. I’ve watched enough games this year to say our offense when he’s off the court is so bad. Carlyle is an issue and I don’t understand how Woody doesn’t put a stop to it. Tonight in the Iowa game once he made those first 2 shots I knew he would shoot it 10+ times because he is the ultimate ME guy. The moment he comes in and takes the lead guard position from Rice we have no flow on offense and Carlyle will shoot it until he’s pulled back off the court. Having that type of guard running our offense in the 2nd unit is so frustrating. The ball completely stops moving the minute he enters the game. Honestly our Lineups at times when it’s Him Galloway Mgbako Tucker Hatton is so hard to understand. Mgbako is buried on a wing or corner… Tucker is waiting to get his hands on the ball to shoot. Carlyle doesn’t pass… Galloway is just standing waiting for the ball to drive and show off pass. Quote

We aren't vert athletic but I think he is and could thrive in the right system. Galloway would probably do well on a team like purdue in a limited roll. Yes we have alot of talent but it's wasted. Last night I asked myself: "why am I wasting my time watching this garbage?". Then it hit me - it's totally out of habit. coonhounds Posted January 12, 2025 Posted January 12, 2025 This was another massive blunder by woodson! The team came out as unprepared as any team i have seen! The turnovers were insane. The lack of focus on defense was unforgivable! Bako has a bad game against usc and you think the coaches would have him mentally ready to go and it was another repeat! What's wrong with him? What's wrong with a team to play that terrible several times a season? THIS GAME SUCKED IN EVERYTHING YOU CAN SUCK AT IN A GAME OF BASKETBALL! Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 12, 2025 Author Posted January 12, 2025 I'll apologize in advance because I didn't watch the second half and haven't read the second half posts in this thread. I turned it off at halftime and told my wife they'll lose by 20. Selected comments from the press. Iowa dominated points off of turnovers (24-to-10) and fast break points (26-to-2). According to Zach Osterman of The Indianapolis Star, this was Indiana’s 12th Big Ten loss by 15 or more points under Mike Woodson. IU has now lost four games by 15-plus this season. In the 31 Big Ten regular season losses it has suffered under Woodson, 12 of them have come by 15 or more points Indiana finished with 16 turnovers that led to 24 points for the Hawkeyes. The 16 turnovers marked the fourth time the Hoosiers have surpassed 15-plus giveaways in a single game. Iowa's defense entered the game as one of the worst defensive teams in the conference, allowing nearly 79 points per contest. Indiana was bewildered when Iowa went to a zone near the end of the first half, stifling the Hoosiers. go iu bb, WeeDerkaNaut, MemphisHoosier and 3 others 6 Quote

You would think at some point that some of these dudes would have some pride in themselves to stop getting clowned by average @$$ teams like Iowa. Same for Mike f'n Woodson. How that dude can sit around, year after year and allow his teams to get clowned KNOWING what this program is supposed to be is infuriating. The morons with money who gave him another chance show that you don't have to have a brain to be rich. And many of them are older than me. They saw the 3 titles. They know what a wrll run program looks like. They KNEW this lazy dumb@$$ wasn't the guy and they bought him another year to cement that fact. I am just so f---ing tired of the people that run this place making this harder than it has to be. None of them have any shame. None of them have any pride in what we should be. They are just robots who throw on the costume of a dead man's program every year and then put it through the motions. It says a lot about how well this team is coached that a team going to zone bewildered them. HoosierHoopster 1 Quote

They don’t set plays for him to try to get flow early. When he does score gets pulled because “Mike Woodson does what Mike Woodson wants.” The end of the game when he had 7 points in like that 2/3 minute stretch instead of building the confidence and helping him get his feel back we pull him for the remaining 7 minutes. Proceeding to score like 2 points the next 3-3:30 minutes. HoosierHoopster and coonhounds 1 1 Quote

This sh*t's been going on for the whole Woodson era. When we lost at home to Illinois his first year, they left a message on the whiteboard in the visitors' locker room that said something like "Nighty night, Trayce!" Rutgers has had dudes playing mind games and calling us out for being soft, the guy from PSU said he wasn't impressed by Ballo, and now this. Our players aren't serious and their opponents know it.
