CSP Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 Ok did NOT know Easton Messmer played for WKU. Coached against him when he was at Silver Creek. Burner 2 catches 50 yards so far in the bowl game. 700+ on the year. Get him in the portal. Quote

O'Neil--JR-- transferred in-- probably wouldn't have had direct connection to Cig Weathersby- SO--- played at JMU last year... Only 17 tackles coming into the game Let me ask you this... both of JMUs top WRs have 1 or more years left.. both Cig guys.... Whats the rules, etc... on them texting their old coach and saying "got room for me?" Does Cig just reply with, "I can only recruit kids that are in the portal?" Anyone have thoughts? lillurk, MemphisHoosier and Hovadipo 3 Quote

I’m definitely more in the know on the basketball side, but I think it’s all pretty much the same. There are no more back channels and under the table stuff. Pretty much anything goes in today’s college athletics. They’re all talking to whomever they want, however they want. Nobody is regulating or monitoring this type of scale. Pretty much if you think it might be happening, it is, times ten. Summarily, there are no rules. CSP, thebigweave and MemphisHoosier 3 Quote

I get the sense that Cig plays by the rules, so…Their HS coach texts Cig. Or their personal trainer. Or their girl lol. Usually their HS coach. If not, Cig/Shanahan just talks to them directly. Also, they're not all going to be starter quality. IU needs some depth as well. He's played 34 games for a B1G team the last 3 years so he brings experience at this level with a team that has been good more often than not. He walked on a Wisconsin initially as a linebacker and they switched him to tight end. Not finding much but his background screams that he will get time with special teams. go iu bb and MemphisHoosier 2 Quote
