Popular Post HoosierHoopster Posted October 27, 2024 Popular Post Posted October 27, 2024 My overall impressions - Rice is hands down our best all around player, best point since Yogi, and the guy who will take this team as far as it will go - Malik is a deceptively effective scorer, quietly racks up points, and today looked better moving the ball, not overcommitting to taking the shot - Our perimeter D looked better, hard to take too much from this game particularly because of how bad the shooting was from both teams in the first, but we forced TN into a shot clock violation late in an important possession, looked solid Gallo is going to play more than Car Bako is longer and stronger, very good scorer, needs to be more consistent but a very good second half We still need work creating space for shooters. TN had several 3’s off drives from their point, we didn’t Exhibition or not, true road W against last year’s EE team? Very good W maxwell, Napleshoosier, hoosierfan6157 and 5 others 8 Quote
RaceToTheTop Posted October 27, 2024 Posted October 27, 2024 You really have to remember how bad we looked against top competition last season. It's just an exhibition, nothing more, but teams are playing these to win. thebigweave, Stuhoo and WayneFleekHoosier 3 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted October 27, 2024 Posted October 27, 2024 I was unable to watch. Who was on the court for us in the final minute or two? Quote
RaceToTheTop Posted October 27, 2024 Posted October 27, 2024 Also, if today was an indication, Hatton isn't going to play much. Mgbako/Reneau/Ballo will start and when we go to the bench, you are likely to see combinations with three guards or a more traditional small forward with Bako sliding to the 4. Alford Bailey 1 Quote

In the last minute, offensively they put good free throw shooters on the court -- Ballo out. Defensively, Ballo came back in. The five on the floor to end the game (IU had a 4 point lead and were on defense) were Ballo, Reneau, Leal, Rice, and Carlyle. Starters all played between 31-33 minutes. Tennessee played their starters quite a bit as well with Ziegler getting 37 minutes. 6 guys with 20 or more minutes for Tennessee then it dropped to 10. Alford Bailey Posted October 27, 2024 Posted October 27, 2024 It’s October but you have to feel good about what we saw. Beat a good Tennessee team on the road. HoosierHoopster, thebigweave, Joe_hoopsier and 3 others 6 Quote
Stuhoo Posted October 27, 2024 Author Posted October 27, 2024 Carlyle really works hard on the defensive end. Him and Rice are completely switchable and equally capable of guarding very quick point guards Napleshoosier, thebigweave, Schreckbagger and 4 others 7 Quote

Maybe it was an off night offensively but I didn’t see anything that would say he gives us more than Gallo. i think Carlyle and Tucker will be our 6th and 7th man and eventually Tucker starts over Mgbako. He’s clearly got a significantly better form jumpshot than Galloway. Galloway is going to score near the rim better. So I’m guessing that Carlyle fits our needs as the primary two guard, with Galloway spelling both guard positions. Quote
coonhounds Posted October 27, 2024 Posted October 27, 2024 Glad the second half was much better. Hopefully they get to work and get a bit better. Sent from my SM-A326U using Tapatalk Quote

IUFAN1976 Posted October 27, 2024 Posted October 27, 2024 I know it’s early but a little concerning that we were 4-19 from 3 but the good news, we shoot 19 threes and it’s an exhibition game! Quote
