Can we create a new forum for the Coach thread? I agree with most of them, but I hate every time I get on the Indiana Basketball forum, it's the first thing I see. I don't want to piss anybody, this is just a suggestion. Fire away.

A new forum? The lions share of the fans on this forum are sick and tired of watching IU make dumb move after dumb move, meanwhile our rivals are killing it

I also really dislike seeing 'Fire Coach Woodson' first thing each day when looking on this excellent site for information about Hoosier Sports/Basketball.

I then skim down quickly to see if there is anything new in the Comedy/Jokes or Music Threads.

I wonder what the above post really thinks this site should do?  Does it mean that the post should be buried or pinned below or actually a new site?  The reaction would be that posters would just make a new thread entitled 'Fire Coach Woodson'.

There really are three viable options:

1.    Win 30 games each year;

2.    Fire Coach Woodson;

3.    Don't look for the thread entitled Fire Coach Woodson.

I'm ok with Woodson if IU signs an experienced and effective PG, a SG, a SF...all that can share, defend, hit 3's and FTs. and rebound and block out and protect the ball and...  And if Woodson could get the team to win 30 games per year.  (Meanwhile, Reneau doesn't foul a lot, defends better, blocks out, hits frees.  And IU gets a decent backup for power forward that can do it all.)

I think he wants a Forum called IU Coaching, and then all the negative and/or I suppose positive threads about our coaches would go in there. I understand wanting to avoid all the negativity, but I would oppose sanitizing the IU Basketball Forum, at the same time, I have pretty much stopped adding to the thread because it isn't going to happen this year so it is beating a dead horse, let the thread fall on it's own and be revived next season if warranted!

I think he may be referring to a "True Fan" forum where people just chill and the coaching staff can't be questioned.

In today’s climate of NIL and coaching money etc etc etc….. I wouldn’t be opposed to a losing non winning program if there was a coach and staff who could stay around for a quarter of a century and the bulk of the team were 4 year players.  That way I could actually learn the names of players, coaches and have the team and program grow on me so to appreciate it.  Welcome, would be a couple or 3 at most 4 (4 would be exception to the rule) non 4 year players across a 4 year period.  So there would be a coach who would grow old to or near retirement and teams of 12 with no more than 2 or 3 transfers.  Always have a team of 9, 10, 11 or even better 12…. 4 year players (unless there was the exception to the rule situation).  That way I could actually get to know the players/team who I was cheering for.

I wish there was an option to put a thread on ignore.  And yes, I know no one is forcing me to read in that thread and I know I was posting it in for a long time mostly until it became clear that Woodson was coming back   I don't know if putting the original poster in that thread would remove it from my feed, but @Banksyrules started the thread and I don't want to have him on ignore.

I’d say at least change the name of the “fire” Woodson thread at this point - it’s not happening for at least a year people. 
Maybe Woodson’s “Got to Go” or something like that. 

I’m 100% in the he’s got to go camp now, his continuing refusal to use the perimeter game is mind boggling— but yeah, it’s frankly tiresome to see the fire Woodson thread at the top every single day when it’s pointless for at least a season.

I want a coaching change as well. And I do see value in the topic in that it allows people to vent. However, it’s become a perfect illustration of insanity… saying the same things over and over again and hoping for a different outcome..

My hope is that this thread gets shelved until it becomes apparent next year that the topic is relevant again

Why change the name if you think he needs to go? So what if there is a fire Woodson thread for a year. If he was doing good right now putting a team together there wouldn't be much action in the thread. If he wins a bunch next season then it will be quiet. Sadly at this point it's going to be needed imo

I wanted Woodson gone and contributed to the fire Woodson thread until it was clear he was coming back and then have  only posted a couple of times there.  You can have wanted to move on but also not want the fire Woodson posts to continue to be put in threads that don’t pertain to that.

Which is why there’s a separate thread but apparently the mere sight of the thread title is too much.

That can be taken up with anyone that wants it removed - I’m not defending its removal. I just want there to be a reason for the fire Woodson thread to exist and it not become every thread.  If it’s everywhere, why have one?
