So Rancik was indeed likely the pivot if Sherrell was a no.  That makes the most sense. I’m very very confident the Sherrell commitment is happening very soon and probably today.

When that happens that will give us 9. 
 

back up big.  Back up guard.  I’m not sure we fill 13. Curious if we get a another player of Starter caliber?  I kinda feel like we should.  Khamenia is guy I like.  Jake Hall would be strong too. (Athleticism?)

I would worry more about Hall’s athleticism if he were in Wilkerson-like role from last year.  But with a strong post game and Burton getting in the lane, he should get a ton of nearly uncontested 3’s on this team.

I’ve seen some consternation about hall’s athleticism and lateral quickness but I think he has enough other weapons to his game to mitigate any issue from a jump up in competition. The obvious first aspect is he’s a flamethrower from deep. He also has a great pump fake and a decent enough dribble.
 

He’s also be playing with a primary guard who can actually beat his defender off the dribble which should create space for all the off ball players. I think his strengths make up for any concern about athleticism. He’s a killer. I have belief in anyone who scored over 3,100 points in high school to be able to find space to score.

I would love to see us get a couple more wings, a really good shooter and a really good defender.  If they're seniors, that's fine, our freshmen will be able to take over their roles as sophomores.

I totally agree with this take. Need some shooters off the bench for sure....id like to have more depth than we have had in years past....seems like we get a starting 5....then fall off tremendously anything past the starting squad

Also think we need a combo guard off the bench that can score alongside Burton, but also handle the ball when Burton is out.

I’m curious if they leave a spot open in case that nutty fin Muurinen wants to throw them a bone and play in college for a year. But if it’s evident that won’t be an option, they should grab someone from the portal.
 

Unfortunately for a lot of players, there’s going to be a bunch still in the portal into the summer because we’re approaching like 3000 athletes entered right now I believe.

If there’s a good roster and one spot left I wouldn’t be upset if they kept it open to hunt for a high quality euro looking to make the leap over here late spring or summer.

Probably couldn't get him specifically, but a guy like Terrence Hill from VCU. Just a bucket-getting guard off the bench that can also take some ball handling duties in spurts.

He seemingly wants to go back to the west coast so likely not an option anyways, but I was a little hopeful they would get involved with Brady Dunlap from SLU as an off the bench shooter. He would fill that role really well, but I haven’t seen anything connecting him to IU and I think he’s taking visits out west
