The test of optimism continues.  Definitely a different approach.  Taking multiple players from a mid major that was terrible is another interesting approach.

It could all work, we’ve got some talent and definitely some guys that want to prove things.

Not really a test of optimism. This kid is a clear bench piece and young. He will develop this year or will get recruited over. But he has good measurable and put up points and rebounds vs better competition than kids going to high school in Indiana.

I like the wait and see approach. With the collection of skill sets the players have it will be fun to see it come together when the season starts. If he got a bunch of guys that work their tails off, I believe we will see a vast improvement on the court from what we have seen the last 8 years. I'm excited to see how he puts it together.

It should be everyone on the teams directive to dunk on Dakich every time they can.  The coaching staff, AD, President, every student and fan should as well.

Just block the guy. Easy.  Or troll back by referring to him as Dan Jockitch.

I could be wrong, but my sense is that recent history suggests that schools prioritizing high performing mid major and/or unproven P5 talent in the portal have out performed those that emphasize established P5 portal players. At least in cases where a major roster rebuild was required.

Michigan and Louisville are obvious examples last year, Florida, KState a couple years back.

The two players you are talking about were the top two scorers and rebounders on said team and they were a freshman and sophomore.

So are we out on Federico, Payne, and Curtis or just no visits this weekend like Rabby said. If Luke doesn't get the waiver then we go with a freshman or the guy from Greece (best case scenario)? Wouldn't be upset with Josh Harris and a big.

I would love to get Federiko. Haven’t been able to find any kind of information on us - or others - for him anywhere.

Rabby says that Josh Harris wants to come to IU but interpreting one of his typically vague posts, it sounds like IU might be waiting on some others before taking him. "Several things still to play out."

Isn't he 6'8 and 220?  That's not guard size my dude.

A bit undersized for a center unless he's very athletic, which I haven't seen that he is. Can possibly play that position in a pinch, but it's not ideal.

I thought Curtis was a done deal? I would also like to add Miller!

Not a done deal. Others have jumped in to the recruitment.

I look forward to seeing the offensive creativity.  I'd be a bit more excited if it was Tyler Harris from Washington. I question the athleticism with Josh. He would be a nice add at this stage of the process though.

Soooo did anyone end up visiting this weekend or no

If the answer is no, I guess we can put to rest the importance of getting recruits on campus on a beautiful, Little 5 weekend.

Anyone have any pics of the Bloomington L5 weekend? Post them in the OT board or somewhere! Those of us living in such scenic places as, uh, Houston would appreciate it :)

I mean do we want to promote the party lifestyle as a key recruiting tactic? We want grinders not party animals. I’m sure they will all have their fun but let’s not make it a key selling point. Sell basketball first.

I’d say yes.

Our best teams had some party animals.  Players are still 18-22 yr olds and they can’t play bball 24/7.  May as well go to school somewhere that’s a good time.

We can sell both bball and IU being really fun.  With the right team culture, players can be trusted to party in moderation and at the appropriate times.  Just my opinion.

Update: @Asha’man the board clearly agrees with you!  I could be wrong on this one...

Maybe Drock wanted to be able to experience his first Little 5 the right way.
