I doubt Cisse would come here for mop up minutes, but would be a great addition! Patterson came to Syracuse as an unranked recruit and they redshirted him. I'm thinking if he had shown anything at all in practice, he wouldn't have redshirted and Syracuse would have tried to keep him as they are in desparate need of big men. Ryno6284 1 Quote

That said, at least with Maryland/IU/Rutgers we are talking about schools he wouldn't start at, so playing time isn't all he's looking at. Stuhoo, Home Jersey and lillurk 3 Quote

Coaches make those decisions all of the time, whether it is worth playing a guy for a certain amount of time or at a certain position is worth losing them over. I have to say that if MM weren't here last year, the amount that our perimeter shooting hurt was would have soooooooo much worse than it was. I hadn’t heard that before, where did you hear it? The only point I recall hearing is something about Mgbakos mom asking Woodson to recruit her son after he decommited from Duke. Obviously our team last year is much worse without him, but he’s clearly a guy who should be playing at the 4. Quote

But bringing in a guy who is likely even worse than NK, to sit at the end of the bench just in case of injury, could be fine I guess but is far from important. In that scenario I’d have to think we’re better with Malik at the 5 and then trying to hide his weaknesses, probably by playing some zone, or by ensuring the guys manning the 3 and 4 are better defending and rebounding options. That comes down to coaching. If that ever happens, Woodson has to make those adjustments. Quote

And this backup big? Let’s see what shakes out. In the transfer portal and NIL era why use a scholarship on a developmental guy? Players develop by playing, not sitting on the end of the bench. I like what the staff is doing here in finding impact multi year players plus some upperclassmen with 1-2 years left to fill specific roles. thebigweave and cybergates 2 Quote
