Why would he even consider IU?  Already had that high min. bench role, which probably isn't available.  I think he'd be looking for a starting role somewhere.

Does he want to win?

Because hs is a big IU legacy kid.  With all his family connections there is no way he didn't grow up an IU fan.  It could be one of those deals where you figure you aren't going pro, why not go to the childhood dream school if they are calling.

family ties to IU + couple hundred thousand dollars + chance to play on a team that wins big..? its plausible that he'd consider IU.

He might not have any delusions of grandeur about having starters minutes and being a star somewhere.

We had a big role player and he went packing -- either voluntarily or un voluntarily.  Those spots are going to be difficult to fill because these days nobody is "forced" to stay put and develop.  It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy -- the talent level decreases, so the minutes decrease, so the player leaves.

  • Anderson was 32+ mpg  at FGCU and always started.
  • Goode was 20 mpg at Illinois and rarely started.

That, plus Goode's next-level connections to IU make it a much more foreseeable fit in a 15 mpg role.

By the way, Goode averaged about one more rebound per 40 minutes than Anderson last year.

Not sure if this is sorta known or if the topic has been broached -- I've been on vacation and visiting with out-of-town friends the past couple days, therefore mostly out of the loop -- but according to Tyme on Twitter, getting both Goode and Anderson isn't really an option.

Guess it's one or the other.

Doesn’t matter to me as long as we get one of them

Just a hypothetical question since he is off the board, but for what this team needs would you rather have Hickman or Goode for the plug-in shooter role?

i don’t think there was ever more than 15 minutes available when you look at the guards we prioritized, but which do you feel is the better player in this spot?

It looks to me like Goode is a cleaner fit — the guard depth makes it harder to find a spot for e.g. Hickman/Essegian.

Whereas Goode can play 3/4 alongside Mgbako, spell Mgbako, play small ball 4, he’s high-level insurance if you need to patch up even up to 25-30 mpg if a starter is dinged up or Tucker isn’t quite as ready as you’d hope.

The Kopp comp @RaceToTheTop made is cleaner than lots of player comps. He’s more rugged and capable defensively and on the boards than Miller, and probably a bit less of a shooter (but career 38.8% on 219 attempts is about all you can hope for).

Also had a year when he only played 10 games, so I wonder if there’s any chance he petitions for a 5th year after next.

The new rumors swirling (since we all love RUMORS), is that even after getting Goode (which was this morning rumor) is that Anderson actually wouldn't totally be off the table.
