Transfer Portal w IU Interest

To point 2 Banks, Gunn did not improve but Reneau did. Is that because of the staff or is that because the individual player put in the time to get better?
IMO, a staff can work with a player to help them improve, but if a player doesn't want to put in the work outside of the sessions with staff, they either won't improve or the improvement will be minimal.

Just like the bots on twitter it's happening everywhere. People get their orders.

With all of these visits lined up from guys in the portal with Indiana interest we will be getting commits before we know it.

I really like the Division 2 kid

I like the Evansville kid. He's good. Woody is going to make him a star.

I'm sure we'll have all 6 spots filled right away.

How is Cupps isn’t going to play much next year equal to bashing Woodson???

Ask the original poster, I just agreed to it. Any time I see the word Cupps or Woodson, I just assume it's bashing.

That final scholarship left open because they were waiting for a guard to make a decision. I can't remember his name but they were waiting. In the meantime they have an OV from the Hart kid from Linton and didn't offer him. The following Monday or Tuesday he announces he is going to UK. 6'5, good shooter, poor defender, Indiana All-Star but IU thought they needed that last scholarship for the guard they were waiting on. I wish my memory was better on this at least the names of the players and too many posts to dig through to get to last May 2023.

Is that they others remember the situation about the last scholarship?

I ain't mad at all and I understand your point (I think - I hope). Please allow me to take a stab at it from the mods' point of view:

There are two current diametrically opposing views about threads veering off topic:

  1. The posters that are pissed when, in their opinion, any and every thread evolves into an anti-Woodson thread.
  2. The posters that are pissed because, in their opinion, they can't say anything anti-Woodson, even when they think it is relevant to the discussion at hand.

My take? Both points of view are right.

It is a challenge to read the board and keep things kinda/sorta on track and reasonable. And it is a given that threads will occasionally veer off-topic. It is also a reality that an individual poster may only post off-topic (in this case anti-Woodson) once and feel it is overzealous to have the thread contain a warning or have a post hidden. But when that is done, it is because of a trend, not any particular post.

So here is how we try to do it (remember, we make mistakes too!):

  • Have a (very active) thread that is a place to vent about Woodson sucking and as a bad choice for IUBB Coach.
  • Allow topics to veer some.
  • But when there are a series of posts that veer a thread, such as a recruiting thread, into an anti-Woodson "it doesn't matter who we get because the staff sux" thread, we try to steer the thread back to its intended and described topic. We want readers to be able to click on a thread topic and generally get the content relevant to the thread title.

It's a subjective challenge, but we try to get it right.

Our hope? That posters take the totality of the board into consideration when they see a topic veering - making it a place for great Hoosier fans and adding to the success of the interactions.

Hope that helps!

Stu (on behalf of all of the mods)

Well said and thanks to all the mods that take care of this site.

Supposedly Antonio Reeves. an example of Calipari punking Woodson.  Not sure how much I trusted that because Woodson was ALL IN on X and Gallo, so if this story is true Woodson wasn’t willing to offer enough.  Bad decision.

Probably can safely scratch Koren Johnson off your IU target list.  At the end of March we were reportedly 1 of his 5 finalists although it was a head scratcher at that time.  Today per Joe Tipton, he's re-opening his recruitment.

I would assume that he wasn't getting from anyone the amount of $ he wanted.  Also assume IU was thrown in there in his 'finalists' because it added a school that has NIL and he wanted others to put in $.  I know IU contacted him but don't think it went beyond that.
