If DaRon Holmes doesn’t go pro and decides to enter the transfer portal, IU better recruit him hard!  He’s pretty freaking good!

He was second team all-American this year. Yeah he is a stud and if he entered the portal every team should and would recruit him hard

We’ve got $6 million portal dollars to throw at him, lol

Does IU have an NIL hierarchy?  Are MgBako and Reneau being paid the same?  If we pay someone from the portal a huge amount of money, will we have to make sure that Reneau's and/or MgBako's NIL packages matches it?  Just wondering how all this works?

I honestly don’t feel that we can land the rolls royce’s

Rolls Royce's likely don't want to feed the post for 40 minutes a game and actually show some of their own offensive skills. I'm not seen anything that would indicate Woody wants to play that way despite what he might say publicly

It’s every man for himself.

So to get my data straight in my head, what do you think IU is looking for in the portal?

SG -- Center -- PG -- Backups (hopefully another shooter, and wing)

Although Woodson did get a center last year and MgBako, IMO he struck out on PG, SG and some backups. MgBako literally fell into his lap so does he count as a portal success?

I still feel like I did weeks or a week ago ... His portal success will not be as good as it needs to be ... based on last year. Plus this year visiting players and families have followed the news and see Woodson with only one year left at IU or on the hot seat as a minimum. Will they contact McNeely to find out why he recommitted? I would if I were them.

Mgbako was not a portal get. He was a Duke recruit that decommitted late who, as you said, literally fell into Woodson's lap. He's Woodson's kind of kid - good talent and zero effort to get.

I wonder what the remaining balance is right now in the IU portal checkbook?

I have a feeling that we are going to keep Ware and make him one of the highest paid college basketball players.  Ware, Reneau, and MgBako could take up close to $3.5 million of our $6 million NIL.  Galloway, Leal, Cupps, and Newton is probably another million combined.  That leaves 1.5 million to fill our remaining needs.

Not if he’s a guaranteed 1st rounder. There’s no comparison in the money at that point. I was pretty sure JHS would struggle in the pros and thought he might stay if there was a chance of him slipping to the 2nd round. But when he became a lock for the first round, there was no chance he was coming back. The money is guaranteed for multiple years and is way more than we can offer for NIL.
