I get what you are saying but how do you think anyone gets their info? Someone has to cover a story and do the work to get the info and share it. 

its 2026 and there is little to no difference between ESPN and a Twitter account and in fact info usually comes faster from the independents vs main stream news sources.

honest question, what would be an acceptable way to get updates on recruits if nobody is allowed to reach out to them?

I think the line between some random moron with a timeline full of asshattery and a verifiable media member is pretty clear.

While I would never talk to any of these kids (and that’s what they are to me) and that’s a big reason I no longer even care about recruiting. I think the line between some random moron on twitter and Jeff Goodman is a lot thinner than we’d all like to believe. In fact the line between that guy and Rablohns probably doesn’t even exist.

You can suck worse than any other school in the country for 125 years and then win a title two years later if you hire the right coach. IU has had a rough 21st century but that’s increasingly irrelevant in the NIL/portal era. Devries just has no motion so it’s back to the same excuses we saw for the past two coaches.

If hiring the next championship winning coach could be done at the snap of the fingers, Cignetti would have been hired 25 years ago.

I guess I'll be the one to ask it, is Aiden Sherrell worth 4M?  What is it about his game that impresses everyone the most? 33% from 3 for a 6'10, 255lb guy is pretty impressive. 6.2 rebounds while averaging 24 minutes is good.  That said, he's not athletic at all, and perhaps it's partially due to the odd way he runs, but looks out of shape (bad weight).

There’s a huge gap between winning a NC and losing twice in two weeks to a 15-18 Northwestern team to blow a tournament appearance. IU just can’t seem to find someone within that gap. 

Devries screwed up last offseason, which in turn made this past season a complete waste. Now we’re likely bringing only one player back and Devries has lost the “new coach momentum” an IU coach gets before they inevitably fizzle out.

To a team like Duke or Michigan State? Probably not. But that’s why he might end up at a place like Indiana or LSU.

Like winning multiple B10 titles and reaching the S16 three times in 5 years? Other than that, I agree. But this isn’t the thread for that.

Maybe it’s more than just hiring the right coach that is holding back IU from getting back to where they want to be.  Easy excuse is to blame it  all on coaching and nothing else.  This program is broken

Yes.  BTW, the player he describes — 6’10”, capable 3 point shooter, runs funny is the EXACT description of Myles Turner when he was at Texas.

i’m not sure why either would be called ‘non athletic’ — both are excellent rim protectors.

6'10, very, good interior (2.2 blks/game) defender who can step out and shoot the 3 and is strong and well built?  Yes. For Indiana in the B10?  Double yes. 

 Took a huge leap from freshman to sophomore year. In line for another leap this year.  Was a key part in a Nate Oats system that is as run and gun as it gets so I am not too worried about his athleticism and him staying in shape. 

As soon as I saw he entered, I thought, man that's the guy I want IU to get.  (This was before I knew we were linked at all to him)
