I think the big reason why so many folks are disappointed is because a lot of "insiders" on twitter and elsewhere have been edging Indiana fans with "Conwell to IU" type posts. And then he gets to his next stop and immediately commits lmao

It's not necessarily a knock on Indiana, the fans, DeVries, etc., because we don't know what all went into that decision.

I think that as a fanbase we are just so overly tired by our top targets choosing to play elsewhere, especially when elsewhere is right down the road. Always the bridesmaid type sh!t. I get the frustration. I'm frustrated. But portal season is far from over. Lots more to come.

Still have not heard officially that Enright has commited, only heard from a couple of burners that have been decently accurate.  Assuming he has committed, would assume that it shows tomorrow morning.

I agree it's an L and it sucks. I wanted him. You wanted him. We all did. After the last few years I just don't care as much about losing guys. Not one single player is the savior. I just want DeVries to build a team for next year that we all will be happy with. That can happen without Conwell.

Those guys don’t know ****. People listening to bunch of burner accounts is the same as listening to some account on their pumping out fake information or something else.  It’s all fun and games but all those accounts maybe were right once or twice and that’s either luck or they just had info on one thing.  Look at how the Brad Stevens thing turned out here? We can go on all night on that.  It’s a long offseason.

One more thing to keep in mind... remember that cycle where it was rumored we were very close to landing Antonio Reeves, who ultimately stayed at UK and never even actually entered the portal? Wouldn't be shocked if a similar scenario is being worked on. We really have no idea. Let's see at the end of the month.

We also have an incoming 4 star recruit and the coaches son who's a top portal guy.

Seems like a good indicator to me. It's okay to observe when the new coach didn't win a recruiting battle, even if it is his first. 

Some are more frantic about it than others... we'll see where things stand in a month.

One good player not signing does not break things at all. Just means one more unknown for fans to occupy themselves with.

I'm not implying that DDV didn't want Conwell. I'm just saying that we have no idea what DDV's state of mind was. People on this board are acting like the sky is falling. I'm offering a different perspective that we have no idea what's going on behind the scenes. 

I'm not even tryinig to "defend" DDV, even if that's how it's coming across. I suppose I'm playing devil's advocate a bit here, as the coaching search is still fresh in my mind which showed how little we knew what really went on behind the scenes then. 

It would be valuable for all of us to keep that in mind during this player scramble...

Currently I believe 69 players have committed to new schools.  So the average team has 20% of one recruit so far.

We should make a duplicate version of BTownBanners for strictly reactionary/emotional takes and then everyone here can be level-headed about everything all the time and post Go IU! together every day into oblivion. Lol

I tend to lean this way, but…. College fans are going to have to start thinking like pro fans. It matters what players you get AND at what cost. I find it hard to believe Louisville way outbid us, but if they did to a number that makes it difficult for them to get other good players, then it isn’t necessarily a big loss.  
 

In the NBA, for example, your two best players eat up a high percentage of your overall salary and you fill in from there. You can’t spend 1/3rd of your salary on your 3rd or 4th best guy.

Maybe it’s just me but like I feel like unless we want money first guys some of the best talent may not want to come to IU until IU has a product/vision for this year. Also we may not get big names and that’s okay. We need to focus on fixing the brand. We need a good season next year like Louisville had and capitalize on it next off season.

Maybe for some, but I’m disappointed because he’s an amazing, amazing basketball player. Compared to the guard play we saw last year, him with DDv would have been magical.

It might be possible for IU to have as good of a season as L'ville and not finish 2nd in the B1G, like they did in the ACC too. That conference was pure garbage last year - other than Puke, of course.
