Because Mike Woodson does what Mike Woodson wants and Mike Woodson coached in the NBA so Mike Woodson is the smartest guy in the room when it comes to basketball and the way Mike Woodson wants to do things.

My guess is that one of two options will happen.  We will get a good, but not great point guard or we will land a highly sought after point guard and make him one of the top three paid players in college basketball.

I would be curious if any of the younger assistants asked him to adjust the system. Unless we have a staff full of dummies, which is possible someone has to have noticed.

Mike has probably assembled a staff of yes men and anyone who challenges the status quo is sent packing

I think this is still unknown tbh. Certainly after saying he wanted a different lineup after TJD left then running the same sort of offense flies in the face of what he has said. But I also think this ego people worry about could cause him to not want to go out with another bad year and he may be more open to change.  
 

Just in portal contacts it seemed early on that we were very guard focused. Doesn’t this suggest he knows roster mistakes were made and they have to correct those?  I don’t know if we can switch from what we have been to a team that shoots 30 3’s a game in one year but I would not be surprised to see us shoot twice as many as last year.

Iowa boards are reporting that Perkins is looking for something in the neighborhood of $300k and guys like Walker, Hickman, Blackmon, etc aren't going to command anywhere close to half a million. There's only a handful of portal players that are going to sniff high 6 figures to a million plus. I would pu IU's current allotment closer to $2million than $3million with more than half to spend. 

I would be concerned about a skeleton in the closet if Iowa won't come up with $300k for a 5th year of Perkins.

That unfortunately doesn't shock me. Kenya is a little surprising to me because he was on Hurley's staff before here so I would assume he's gotta know something to be on the best coach in college bball's staff.

Would he listen? There were several games where CC and Walsh looked visibly disgusted lol. I know CC is not a coach per se, but it would seem like if anybody could get in Woody's ear it would be him. There were some subtle changes during the late win streak, whether they were permanent remains to be seen and personnel for next year. I have said before do not be shocked if he lands a high level center. When he does, the question of offensive scheme is pretty much answered IMO.

It is crazy how Foul Ming is never in foul trouble ever

I looked this up and see that Edey has NEVER fouled out in any of his 134 games he’s played (started over 100) and has more games with zero fouls, that he has with 4 fouls. I don’t see how that’s possible

Iowa's NIL is shot in men's basketball. I've heard from a little birdie that Fran is encouraging older plays with a year of eligibility to get out of Dodge while they can. The sh*t Fran and his players get from that fan base is crazy.

I'm dreaming of Reneau and mgbako in a Schertz offense and it makes me sad we have another year of mediocre mike. We could have given a new coach a really nice foundation along with so much money to spend to be good right away.

Just to play devil's advocate though - doesn't Purdue getting to a Final 4 put that belief to bed?

Edey touches the ball every possession and either shoots it or passes it back out after getting double teamed in the post. 

At the end of the day, you just need a really good team.

Edey is once in a generation college player so sure. But purdue also leads the country in 3 pt percentage. This purdue team is different because they have guards that can actually do something. They also get fouled at an insane rate. So if you give me all of that then sure it can work

Purdue is one of the top three-point shooting teams in college basketball.  They do play inside out, but they also run action to get shooters open without Edey being involved.

Eric seemed annoyed when he posted that they wouldn’t use all the schollys last night.   You could tell he didn’t agree with it.  He did say if they feel in love with someone at 13 then they would use it

Totally agree. I'm just thinking maybe Woodson watches that, and thinks he can build a team like theirs.
