They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread

Recently heard that Dolson has had this topic (Woodson’s fate) on his front burner since January. All that has happened has only added fuel to it. Pearl and IU have interest in one another. Let’s see how the next 2 weeks play out and then see what Dolson and others decide.

Nope.

Just how he couldn’t adapt to his opponent’s game plan.

How his team was one dimensional.

How he practiced them into the ground so that by the end of the season their legs were shot.

How his teams played little defense.

Only disparaging remarks I made were about his love of Diet Coke

I am pretty sure on the other board he was the poster who called Purdue fans a lot of names. Whenever a Purdue fan came to the board he wasn't very nice to them.

God, you guys can’t seem to get the concept.

I have said multiple times that I don’t know whether Woodson should return or not. That the rest of the season would determine that.

I am not happy with the results this year but I am also not going to pass judgment until the season is over.

What I am not going to do is make him an object of derision. 
 

I guess that makes me a defender. So be it.

Someone on here has to not join the club of piling on .

My viewpoint is that CMW deserves to be respected, whether anyone thinks he should be the coach or not. If that’s offensive to many , not sure what else to say.

 

 

And yet you seem to not get over the hump either!  It’s like you get 2/3rds up, then slide back down.  That damn hump is just too massive for you to get past.  It’s like ground hog day but it’s hump day!  Even your brain is overloaded by how massive the hump is!  It’s just a darn hump, but yet you can’t get past the hump!  Maybe next hump day you’ll get it?

If you don’t like what ppl say then don’t come to this thread.  What people  have to say doesn’t bother me in the slightest.  If you’re going to take offense to hump jokes, cigars, or memes then maybe message boards aren’t the place for you. There are plenty of things I’ve seen posted on message boards and social media I don’t agree with. I just don’t go back to those threads or argue to change someone’s mind on their jokes or comments that some find offensive. Goodness go to a political message board and you might have an aneurysm telling ppl to be respectful. Lol
 

So let’s get back on topic. Say you’re the AD, what would you do if the decision was yours and the season is now over?

From someone who has had reliably connected information on many other things IU athletics related. Not going to get into specifics and other can choose whether they want to believe it or not.

It is possible to give Woodson credit while also being critical.

TJD (and Race ) was gone and he got them back.  We beat Purdue and made the tournament but there is a feeling those teams underperformed.  He got Kopp but failed to use him properly.  (Kopp was probably my favorite player the two years he was here and I defended him relentlessly on this board but he was used poorly by this staff).  He wasn’t able to retain A.Franklin.  He got JHS to the pros after one year.  JHS was always going to be a pro, just a question of when.  He landed Mgbako.  I think promises were made.  Also think Mgbako and his handlers saw the writing on the wall at Duke.  That he struggles athletically is being kind.  Tired of all the excuses about him having a lot to learn defensively.  He is a lazy player.  I have seen him give zero effort at times this season but his name may as well be penciled in stone as the starting 3 for CMW.

CMW seems to tell his staff to go after the big fish recruiting guys like Boogie and Queen but doesn’t seem to know what to do when those kids say no thanks to CMW.  Why are we not out recruiting Indiana high school players from the get go? I’m sure guys like Painter, Izzo, Shrews, Fran, etc are grateful to take our talent CMW doesn’t seem to care about.

He acts like everything is a chore.  Recruiting, meeting with the media, etc.  This is the job.  How could he have not known that?  It’s like he thought he could just come back to IU and not put in the work and just coach the games and that he could get most of the players he wants to get because he is Mike Woodson.  I would love to know how other coaches view him, how high school/AAU people view him, and how people in the athletic department at IU view him.
