Even at NM, he's only won 64% overall and 52% of conference games. So I'm going to have to disagree with you that if he had a different name the board would think differently of him. Or do you mean if he didn't have the FIU and Minnesota jobs on his resume? Then he'd be in just year 4 as a HC and, while having a decent year, not exactly setting the world on fire. So I don't think we'd be too enamored with him even then. Since you defended Woodson for so long, it's not surprising that you think Pitino Jr has done a phenomenal job at NM. He's having a good year but to say he's been phenomenal is quite a stretch. But compared to Woodson, those numbers do look a bit better, I'll give you that. Pitino has 3 more wins/3 less losses overall along with 3 games over .500 instead of just 1 in conference. So much better. I'll grant you that Pitino's teams are getting better while Woodson's are getting worse. But still... He's 10-1 atop the best mid-major conference in the country about to be nationally ranked. 3 of his 4 losses have been by a combined 9 points. New Mexico's Net is 45 and they have a solid 8-2 Q1/Q2 record. He's doing much more than "ok" at New Mexico. The coach he replaced was 52-47 in the 4 years prior. Again, I'm not going to hold his lone year at FIU...at the age of 29 against him nor his time at Minnesota coaching in his early 30's where he at least had some decent success. Nonsense to think at 42 Pitino Jr has flatlined as a coach. Ridiculous actually.

Some coaches are very satisfied to stay in one place especially when it's close to home and where the pressure to win and the fish bowl isn't what it would be at IU with us "true fans". That's not meant as a slam against your post just that not every personality is meant for the bright lights of Bloomington. I don’t disagree. I’m sure Collins is content and would only consider a handful of schools if he were to move on. I think he’d do very well at IU, but that’s just me. triple 1

People believe it is going to happen then when it doesn't happen they will blame people even though it wasn't ever a possibility. What is your problem? That still doesn't mean he's good enough to coach at IU. He seems like a decent mid-major coach, kind of like Alford. Also, at what point in a coach's career do the results start counting? 30? 35? 40? Whenever it's good enough to support your position? Asking for future reference. thebigweave 1
