Alford Bailey Posted February 20, 2024 Posted February 20, 2024 Will be interesting when we really find out why we didn’t add guards. It was an obvious need. Solely on Woodson? Were there $$ issues? Pressure to not recruit over Galloway and Johnson or just incompetence? NVFalcons1990 1

The media loved the idea that two brothers could coach winning college basketball teams and proceeded to blow Archie's success out of proportion. This, plus the Miller pre-NIL ‘recruiting prowess’…it was assumed Archie could swim in the same ponds as Sean did if at an equally historic program — until the cover came off of that ball for Sean — and all of a sudden, being a bro became a major liability v an asset! But, AZ handled the dysfunction time masterfully…and when they were ready, pre-lined up the sourness on Miller, used his issues to limit buyout liability- and already had their guy (Tommy Lloyd) lined up. That kind of maneuvering requires an AD who can play chess and make big time maneuvers (Greg Byrne - now at Alabama, and then Dave Heeke). Neither were AZ guys, just power brokers in major college athletics. Our athletic department comparatively seems to always be run by in-house guys who can’t get out of their own way. Many of us felt like we underperformed in years 1 and 2 based on the talent on the roster. Evidently, the decision makers are glass half full people when it comes to coach Woodson.

He didn't allow for the possibility that there would be injuries... and thus, was not prepared for it when it happened.

So now at this point I wonder if there’s anything that could happen with this season that would make him be fine with just not taking the 4th year even though he knows he’d be able to have it if he wants it…..or if there’s no way he’d entertain that thought process and just want to try to prove this year was some sort of fluke.

He had top 30 kenpom teams his first two years at Iowa st but that was on the back of top 10 defenses. This year his offense has taken a big leap (kenpom 43) along with a top 5 defense and if that’s sustainable hes exactly what we need. Top 10 recruiting class at Iowa st last year. Only makes 2.5 million and is from Milwaukee. He’s leading the best conference in America this year. I’ll be curious to see how they finish out. There’s definitely a little time left to improve those metrics. But having your best team’s offense finish up in the 40’s would raise some questions for me.

I think he’s too stubborn to walk away. He knew he was getting 4 years, Dolson knew he was getting 4 years. This is not a money issue. Popular Post Banksyrules Posted February 20, 2024 Author Popular Post Posted February 20, 2024 As a person who fixes programs for a living this IU administration gets me so annoyed. They’re not only corrupt but very very stupid .As a person who really likes to try to see the best in people it takes a lot for me to say that. What irks me the most is that even through luck they seem to botch the good things. I was so annoyed about how we let our chance to be a premier baseball program in the big ten just fly away. We had a new baseball stadium and good enough resources but completely botched the coaching search to succeed Coach Smith. Could have gotten a SEC stud assistant instead we went nearby to Louisville. I fear that this program is also too stupid to realize the women’s team potential to be special if given more resources in NIL funds or specialized resources. Just very annoyed and frustrated.
