When nepotism is involved, results rarely matter. This was about Buckner giving the job and tens of millions of dollars to an unqualified friend. Clearly he doesn't care about the program... and it's highly unlike that he learned a &@^% thing... except how to fleece the university that some say he loves. Do the math and follow the money. IU aint hiring Pearl or Beard even if there were actually a chance they’d take the job. No way. After Sampsongate the admin will continue to bend over backwards to avoid any appearance of impropriety and risk and now after failed coach picks that’s only more true. Doesn’t matter if people don’t like it, it’s just where the U is. Give me one of the up and comers with history of strong basketball acumen and development. There’s some dice rolling there but the U will take that over risk of another Sampson-like fiasco There are no rules anymore. The NCAA is like a neutered dog. Home Jersey, SlammySammy and Chris007 3

What about the shitshow with his wife that was mentioned earlier in this thread? It just seems like we do not have our house in order and highly sought after coaches can detect that clearly and would rather avoid....at least for now

And , you’re not going to debate that time frame because you don’t have a leg to stand on. Which of these behaviors would you put up with? Don’t recall any guys in the RMK era who got away with not going to class. Don’t know of any player who tried to physically assault a coach. Provide some verifiable evidence on these behind the scenes issues. And, I was a student when the whole Tommy Baker thing went down. He didn’t last long in Bloomington But the coach physically assault the players…don’t you see what he is saying. All coaches have their baggage and RMK had a lot of it. IndianaSconnie90 1

I don’t believe MW actually has a system he recruits to, he just tries to recruit the best available players, and that is why he struggles coaching. The good coaches in CBB have a system they recruit to and that’s why they are successful Matt Painter recruits to his system. I would say he’s the best in college doing this. realTomCrean 1

Why do you think they went with the "we are Massholes now" response? Seemed they could easily have said we are flattered but no. I think his daughter may only be a sophomore. Wellesley girls soccer plays Brookline in MIAA Division 1 Final 4 game (article from 11/24 refers to her as a sophomore). I wonder if that would keep the door closed 2 more years. If she is a D1 level player (which is possible since she mentions playing in nationals) then some skip playing HS soccer and focus more on national club level teams. Not all, and many in Indiana do not skip HS. The best state clubs are in the Carmel/Westfield area (Indiana Fire and Indy Premier) and would be quite the distance from Btown. There might be better options closer to Cincy or L'ville. Not saying he wont come but if his daughter is a sophomore, and wants to play club soccer Bloomington would require a lot of driving. My daughter played club up in the Carmel area and a couple of her teammates drove up from Columbus for the 3 times a week practice. Stuhoo 1
