You haven’t changed your opinion yet or fast enough!  It still sounds like the jury was still out on Woodson sucking as a coach!  You have a ways to catch up to join and be accepted to the FIRE MIKE WOODSON fraternity/club!  But we all have confidence you will get there someday!!!

It’s unsurprising that Dolson, who by all accounts seems like a capable individual with a clear vision for IU athletics, would embrace the responsibility of his title as Athletic Director and want to own the decisions that fall within his remit.

Certainly you want, and indeed, in some cases - need - “stakeholder” buy-in. Who falls into which category though? And how does one measure the trade offs made along the way based on competing priorities? Striking the balance can be quite tricky.

Some may fault a greener Scott Dolson for swinging for the fences and missing. They would have valid points.

Others may place greater blame on the parties with a conflict of interest, who took full advantage of Scott’s missed swing, so that they could ramrod their guy in and fully exploit the fruits of IU.

I’m sure those responsible for the decisions made after Dolson missed on his top target, would not view their actions in those terms, and genuinely believe they’re doing what’s best for IU. It’s just that their best clearly is not producing good enough results. Woody is not maliciously taking advantage, it’s just who he is… not a very good coach and one without any prior CBB coaching experience. 

The discontent from fans is based on the perception that these guys are riding high on the hog, mailing it in and enjoying the benefits that come with IU because of who they used to be and still mean to important people, not because it’s deserved based on who they are today. Ironically, they also don’t want to listen to anyone but themselves. And so here we are.

No that is exactly what you are saying.  You start out saying at IU the AD has to build consensus on the hire and/or fire -- he must consult various people to build that consensus.  Then when that consensus is formed a final decision is made.  You have stated multiple time that is how IU and many other athletic departments work.  Fine so be it.  

But now you say, Woodson was pushed to SD by Quinn and maybe someone else.  That is not the consensus building model which you say many athletic departments use.  That is someone using his "power" to bully others into a decision.

Sorry I call complete BS on that statement.  While Stevens may have been a low odds longshot, you miss 100% of the shots you don't take.  Dude gets major kudos from me for have the gonads to take the shot.  It's not his fault the powers that be at IU are a bunch of idiots.  What is it that Cig says -- NO SELF IMPOSED LIMITATIONS.

I think she probably means about what went on that caused it be a cluster. This time everyone needs to get out of the way and let Scott do the search and communication.

KathyC paints an incredibly depressing picture of IU athletics. All this HR talk about “consensus building” and “relationships” being what matters instead of wins. An unserious administration delivering unserious results. No surprise there. It’s way past time to get all these has beens out of the picture and let the AD do his job. 

At least we have IU football to enjoy until that happens. I’d rather be a football school anyway.

I disagree with Cathy about the whole Cluster F Stevens process. But it doesn't matter these days. From what I was told from people in the room we thought we had a signed contract with BS and his agent wife. But maybe Quinn knew he would say no so he could move on to Woody. Anyway can't wait to go through the process again here soon
