The problem is quinn and ferguson who don't love the university imo still think he can probably turn this around. These are arrigant entitled brats. They are having a temper tantrum. These are very arrogant people. It's going to get ugly and it should.

Why can’t Dolson fire him if it’s Woodson who leaked this?

We are never getting into the headline optics of “IU legend and head coach Mike Woodson was contemplating retirement and was fired a day later.” That is never happening. The only way it is effective immediately is if Woody chooses to step down immediately. This was classic get in front of it behavior. Now, Dolson can’t give him the “retire now or fired” warning. That ship has sailed.

Let him "control the narrative" in this way. Ultimately, it's a short term PR issue that fades away by the start of next season at the latest. It does no lasting damage to the university or program. He's out at the end of the season, and then he can go do and say whatever he wants, but he will fade into relative obscurity, and his coaching career at Indiana will be remembered for the record and results, not the way he went out. The leadership and decision makers at IU just need to stay professional and on course. Mike Woodson failed with on the court results in black and white, that will speak for itself.

I do have some small defense for Woodson that I believe he is receiving racist and threatening messages. Unfortunately, we do have that dark corner of our fanbase, like many other fanbases. However, there is no credible threat IMO, just really bad people able to talk nonsense digitally without the threat of being punched in the face for being shity racists.

Anyone sending racist or threatening messages to a coach is an absolute incel idiot.

That being said, show me a losing coach at a major athletic program anywhere that doesnt get wingnut messages of a threatening nature from lunatic fans? It comes with the job.

Why are you singling out certain players?  That wasn't what he was saying.  He was just talking about the approach jeez.

huh? lol.... because Brad Stevens would ensure those 3 types of kids aren't playing for Purdue and playing for Indiana. what are you talking about?

I'm agreeing with him.

Sorry if this is old news. I went back a few pages. IDS is claiming they met with the team last night and no responsibilities will change as of now.

Better not lose on Saturday.

Agree, just my point. People getting upset at IU because they think IU not being decisive and coddling Woodson . Don’t think any of this coming from IU administration. Do think as a past IUBB player of significance there shouldn’t be a public ***** slapping.

You can see how he’s brought this upon himself though, right?

I don't believe that. Where are these racist threats you speak of? Do you have proof? Show us the emails

On this we agree, but not because he’s a bad coach. Southern Indiana (and much of the state whether anyone wants to acknowledge it) is not some bastion of racial inclusion. And in many areas much worse than places I’ve lived in the Deep South. It’s sad, but it’s reality.

It may be considered bad form to link to the alleged remarks.  This is why the moderators on this site and others that are well moderated prohibit personal attacks.

Yep that was my point. It still doesn't make it right, and we should all still condemn it. Receiving those messages, as non-threatening as they may actually turn out to be, is not something anyone deserves. Call him a terrible basketball coach, call him lazy, call him old, call him aloof, but yes I have personally heard people say that Indiana U needs to stop hiring n-word coaches, and a simple search on x can find others.
