They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread

He's done.  The "contemplating" and "considering" retirement talk is IU allowing him to save face.  He can either pretend he decided to retire, or if he doesn't, he will be fired.

He doesn't want "fired" on his resume". Also, he likely did say "I quit", but was so pi$$ed that he wanted to try to figure out a way to drag this out and make his on exit strategy. Any way you slice it, his legacy as an IU coach is absolutely terrible.

So, I have to think that Dolson has been in the back channel for some time now.  You don't get to this point without a plan in my opinion.  So, Jerry's post does hold some merit in that.  Is the search committee just a cover you back side move to make sure all the I's are doted and T's crossed?

I have been seeing all the names posted but are there any that may not be on that list we are missing and would be disappointed in.  It seems like the last 3 searches have left me feeling that way.  We have a list and then someone from left field pops in.

A fear of mine as well....rumors that Stevens is the man and Dolson comes out of left field with "Indiana new coach...RANDY WITTMAN"...lol

It’s really simple… they both drank/drink. Beard allegedly battered his partner, Few has never done any such thing to our knowledge. Few’s mistake was driving drunk, that’s an entirely different issue and level of risk. The drinking isn’t the problem. Driving drunk is a problem - a mistake. Hitting women is a different animal.

My last comment on this because I don’t want to restart the whole debate lol

That's why I don't think it's Beard before that he looked like a good fit.

Yeah, I took from Jerrys post that "we had our guy" means Stevens and Few is backup....maybe that is reading a lot into it but I am not sure how any other names make sense unless Jerry and his dog have "a guy" we are all unaware of at the moment..lol

I'm not taking much from "we have our guy" to he honest. IU can feel good about where things stand and it not matter. We thought that last time and ended up with Woodson.

I'd be ecstatic to land Stevens, but going from the front office of one of the most storied NBA franchises to college coach is a big step down so I'll believe it when it's announced. Indiana could offer a big salary and the Celtics could still up it with something like interest in the franchise. Granted we don't know what his motivations are.

I'd just brace for something disappointing like Richard Pitino.

If we end up with Pitino, its because everyone else turned us down IMO...if we are going down that far, we might as well see if Crean wants a second try....
