Know this may not be your area but I have a structure question.

Assuming the rules don’t change with the pending SECBIG 40…

Could the program have two staffs where one is recruiting focused and another is development/game planning? Get the baby-kissers in to woo the Moms and peddle the NIL while simultaneously not sitting on the bench in game pondering the virtues of Powerade vs Gatorade?

Is that what we have now? Seems like it’d be easier to have the X and O guy stay away from parents cause they’re a poindexter and let Rico Suave deal with the humans.

You are correct not my thing. But from hearing others here talk, being around Hartman, and hearing Eric talk, staffs are not supposed to tell a recruit how much they will make. They are allowed to say a player of your caliber made this much at IU last year. But coaching staffs are not supposed to know or be involved with any numbers.  That's about all I know on that subject

There’s talk of an unlimited amount of staff members for athletic programs. Question is, how much is your budget to afford all these new coaches? Men’s and women’s basketball can have 5 assistants now, only 3 can recruit however. In the new super league, there will be less rules.

But then again, will Indiana be joining this new super league? There will be some teams who won’t be able to transition likely.

So you need a 1099 employee group to run NIL reporting to your GM who is a 1099 for the AD. Only half joking.

Are we to the point where the X and O don’t matter outside of basic winning? NIL paycheck is the driving force in recruiting? Sure seems like that’s almost more damning for coaches underperforming. It could in theory make recruiting easier. (Every situation is different I know so generalizations are bad)

It’s going to come down to money and coaching when it’s all said and done. You can have all the talent possible and still come out short.

See Kentucky.

Just on this site he has been called arrogant, lazy, selfish to name a few.

Those comments have been made regarding his actions as a coach. For example arrogant —> the way he acts like he’s above answering reporters’ questions; lazy —> the way he half heartedly recruits. If the reports are true, he’s a lazy coach. So, those comments are perfectly fair, imo.

I think you have to have as much talent as the next guy. Need to have money to get talent. But coaching, scouting, and all of that still matters. I think this is a good example of scouting and coaching. Leal didn't know this on his own, but after the coaches provided the scouting report to the players he knew it. Do all the players take it this seriously? I don't know. Most young guys have to learn that everyone is talented in college. You're not just better than everyone else like high school.

Mike Davis was called alot worse names than that on message boards. Davis had it way worse than Woodson and it's not even close. Crean was called plenty of names as well. Woodsons situation is not unique at all and those are pretty mild terms honestly. Sent from my SM-A146U using Tapatalk

.....so many fans over the years have not given AL the respect or time of day for him to be both on the floor and productive.

He may not be the quickest,.... but he makes up for it with his heart and because he is one of the smartest guys on the team.

Davis had just reached the ncaa final and people were calling for his head. What he went through was 100 times worse than woodson being called lazy..

I was around Crean the most, you had to tip-toe around him because he was either hot or cold. He loved to tell everyone how to do their job in Assembly Hall. The first few years it was ok, but by year 6 or 7, people got tired of it. Plus he brought his wife in more to be a decision maker on different things like halftime guests.

Archie was anti-social so no one really liked talking to him. It was awkward when he was around.

Sampson was fun to be around. I wouldn't trust him as a person. He was known to not pay his debts and always wanted someone else to pay for him even though he made more money than everyone else.

Davis was awesome. Just fun to be around. For the most part, most of them were decent people.

Interesting that Crean was Hot and Cold, which is how his teams played during the season, and his tenure as a whole.

interesting Archies teams no one really liked and everyone was uncomfortable in the situation

interesting that Sampsons teams were fun to watch but no one trusted and ended up getting burned badly

Interesting Davis was a ton of fun and had one of the most fun season of IUBB

Interesting that Woodson has been called low energy and his teams at time reflect that.

My take: the program is a direct reflection of the head coach and the admin has yet to understand that

I miss tracking planes. Let’s get this thing moving folks. Program needs some fresh leadership!

Better watch tracking planes because Taylor Swift is suing a guy for stalking her by tracking her plane.

It's the same guy that was tracking ElonMusk's plane. The kid is saying that the information is legally available.

I was a big Davis guy at first. I thought knight has passed his prime and I was ready to move on. Missing out on May who we all thought iu had set Davis back. By no means am I saying Davis was a great coach I just thought he could recruit top talent year in and out but it was to up and down. We still had a chance to hire great proven coach after Davis but took the wrong one. Could of had beilein easily.
