Fire Coach Woodson Thread

The zone of pain.
That win last night probably significantly reduces whatever chance there was at a midseason change.  Woody has demonstrated he can still win games with this team, and while that's a depressingly low bar, it is enough to avoid getting replaced midseason.  This is not enough of a meltdown to replace him.  The next two games are not too hard either.
It's not fair to say going to northwestern and winning isn't hard. Let's wait and see

I personally don’t think they win at NW.  maybe this win bought him a weekend, but if IU gets buried at NW, it’ll be an interesting couple of days before MD

Then at Purdue and Wisky.  Two more tough ones after MD. Then Mich and Mich St.  Tough stretch.

That win last night doesn't change a thing.  He's gone.

I guess it really doesn’t matter either way if he’s 100% gone regardless, but you think it’s most likely gonna not be til the end of the season now or still could be a chance before season ends?

I said yesterday I don't think he'll ever coach a game in SSAH again.

Absolutely agree. Woodson taking his team to Columbus and beating a 2-4 team in overtime after blowing a 10 point lead with under 4 minutes to go doesn't move the needle at all.

He will be gone before IU plays again at home. Dead. Man. Walking.

My educated guess/take on the likely scenario?

Woody gets the first road game tonight. If it goes well (a win or a down to the last few minutes loss) he coaches the NW game. If we get blown out tonight it’s over before NW or if we lose both by any amount it’s over after NW.

Absent two really good showings I don’t see how he coaches the home game against Maryland.

For Woody?

Mission accomplished.

Nope!  After what happened in those 2 blowouts and the fans booing and chanting “Fire Woodson”, there ain’t no recovering from that!  I agree with others, that win didn’t move the needle! It was two bad teams trying not to lose, and one of them had to win.

That reaction tells me that a lot was ridiing on this game for ol Mikey poo. He just booked his seat on the sidelines til years end with that one.

And that is about it!  I still don’t think they allow him to coach at home, but this is IU and I could be wrong

After sleeping on it, I tend to believe that the athletic department won't want that kind of baggage of booing and calling for their coach to be fired seen on TV. It's a horrible look for IU. I'm leaning towards he's done after NW.

Yes, exactly!  That would be a very very bad look for a home game, especially when we are trying to get new coach and they don’t want whoever that could be, to see that, that is very bad optics!  MW has made his bed and now he needs to lie in it!

As bad as we've looked, it's hard for me to believe they will fire Woody in season when he's sitting at 14-5, 5-3 Big Ten. Even though we all understand that record is a bit of fool's gold.

I think he retires after the season.

I don’t think they are going to let him coach at home with the chance the crowd reacts the way they did against Illinois when they are trying to get a new coach!
