Coach Curt Cignetti to INDIANA

Recommended Posts

I hope if he ends up winning here that we are a destination good enough for him to make it his last stop before he calls it quits. If a bigger “football school” comes after him, hopefully he’s happy enough here to say thanks but no thanks. Maybe with his age that just may be the case anyways.

If (and it's IU Football, so it's always a big 'if') we win with this guy at the helm?

Other teams are going to hate him with a white hot passion, and it will be ... delicious.

On top of that…..If, and that’s a big if we actually start winning and consistently, he will be a hot commodity.

This should be coach's entrance theme! Wow, I hope he is right and gets this program to a level never seen before. I think we will like him, but the media will grow tired of him. I just get that feeling that there is a hint of RMK attitude towards the media buried in there, lol.

I worry about his lack of confidence. Hopefully he can learn how to feel more confident and share how he is feeling

That is not my style, BUT whatever it takes to get IUFB to respectibility!

Maybe he can give a pep talk to the basketball team?!?

I'd say more than a hint. Reminds me a lot of CBK in that I don't think he is one to suffer fools.

Really enjoyed CCC's presser this afternoon- confident and he brought the sauce.  Two questions that remain in my mind, (1) out of morbid curiosity I wonder which players who entered the portal and were greeted with a 'thanks but no thanks' and (2) curious who the 'silent seven' IU verbal commits from current bowl bound teams are, CCC was visibly excited when he got to the topic.  I doubt we will ever hear of the former, but the latter is intriguing for the next week or so.

Wow Coach Cig has got me excited for football season. That presser had me wanting to jump up and down with excitement. I know it’s possible just look at Louisville football this year. Sounds like he has done an unbelievable job recruiting in just 20 days. I believe IU will no longer be a doormat in the Big. I usually don’t like over confident somewhat bragging people. But like they say if you can back your words up it’s not bragging we will see. A lot of people seems to be buying in especially the players . I love how he answers the questions doesn’t give text book answers. Already in love.

I'm not sure those players would help...

Music City Bowl or bust.

I’ve always said if that bowl wants to sell out, get IU in it. We rivaled UT fans’ turnout all the way in Florida, imagine what we’d do a few hours down the road.

(Of course, we have to do our part of actually getting there)

A couple of things:

1) excited to see how the massive roster and culture changes translate next fall. I think/hope it will be a lot of fun.

2) If Cig is ever on a trivia show, and one of the questions is “who is the greatest coach in the history of football?”,  I’m pretty sure he would have an answer in a micro-second. LOL

I think it's weird that some people don't like this type of attitude. It's exactly what IUFB needs. We've been the doormat in both B1G & CFB  forever, like literally. It's time we got a coach who acts, talks, and thinks he's the best, and doesn't back down to anyone. To be the good, you have to believe you are good. He's got me believing. Can you imagine this guy's team going 3-24 in the conference? I can't.

Kevin Wilson had some of this as well. Remember the time he was on the sports radio talk show and while he was waiting to go on air the hosts were recalling our dismal past.  As soon as he gets on air he starts ripping into the hosts.

my only concern with CC is he still needs to do it as this level.

I suppose it's not appreciating that style in their personal relationships. But I kind of look at it like if I'm having an operation, I want my surgeon to be a talented perfectionist. Don't care if he's an arrogant A-hole, just do a great job. I'm not looking for CCC to be my buddy, I just want him to improve IU FB.

It's different for a surgeon, who is much more (though not exclusively) a technician than a culture leader.

For Coach Cig it's fine that he can be salty in certain situations, but he will also need to be a leader that garners respect, belief, and accountability from his team and staff.

I suspect that given his success as a head coach he understands that, and deliberately has different methods for different situations and audiences.
