Coach Curt Cignetti to INDIANA

Their forum is an interesting read:

One poster said he's been to Indianapolis and he can't believe that Cig is leaving for a dump like that. Another poster responds "But have you been to Bloomington?"

First poster responds "No, but how much different can it be?"

Is he sure it wasn't West Lafayette he's been to?

I don’t see how it’s realistic for him to do bowl prep and hit the portal recruiting for Indiana?

Didn't Coach Prime have the same situation?

Feedback from the ‘24 recruits. Positive, though even at that age these kids are really good at talking without saying much, though it does sound like Carpenter is planning to stick around.

So I was told that Dolson was talking with other schools AD who were good at both Football & Basketball. To see what we needed to do to raise the football program. He was sure that Cigs was the guy. Not sure what schools he talked to.

This is awesome. Just the fact he already knew who he wanted to hire makes me smile. But reaching out to other ADs for advice makes me absolutely giddy.  Dolson ain't effin around.

Good. Cignetti can use all the help he can get turning this around.

If it's true he turned us down once then we came back with a godfather offer that means Dolson knew who he wanted and was going to do what he could to get him.

I believe Dolson has been through this scenario once before with the coach who we shall not name.

I do hope we have a more disciplined team.

Hopefully the godfather offer was just part of an increased financial commitment and actually taking football seriously. NIL, player and training facilities, fan experience, all needs improved. IUFB will never be a premier program but it doesn't have to be a joke either.

Now if Cignetti develops a drinking problem we can probably assume the program is cursed.

Don't necessarily want to continue to hammer on CTA -- since he's no longer at IU. But it feels like for the first time in a while that we have a real head coach. I know CTA had put in a few years as a college assistant, but with his goofy histrionics and over-the-board pregame chats (that sometimes appeared to have players rolling their eyes), every time I saw him, I thought he was essentially a high school coach masquerading as a P5 head coach -- because for some reason, the previous AD didn't want to conduct a search after making a change.

Felt the same way about Bill Lynch. I knew he had led college programs before, but it just didn't feel as if he were a legitimate CEO of a P5 program. With he and Allen, it felt like we were playing checkers while other B1G programs were playing chess.

I know CCC has not run a major program, but he's been wildly successful at his head coaching stops and has several years of experience at P5 programs (not to mention an endorsement from Nick Saban).

Hoping he's ready to play some chess.

Indiana football news other than they lost again?  Wait!  What?

A really good experienced and winning football coach hire at Indiana?   Yes!  Welcome Coach Cignetti!  Good luck.

Is this real life or is it just fantasy?

....nice Queen reference there....
