IU's news release: CTA will get $15.5M -- guessing since that appears to have been negotiated down, it's a final total, regardless of future employment.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana University Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Scott Dolson announced on Sunday afternoon that head football coach Tom Allen will not return next season. A national search for Allen's successor will begin immediately.

"After continued evaluation of our entire football program, I have determined that we have lost momentum and that a change in leadership is necessary at this time. I want to thank Tom for all of the contributions he has made to IU in his seven years leading our program. His passion, character, and class made a positive impact on our student-athletes. We wish him well in his future endeavors."

The university and Allen have agreed on a financial settlement of two $7.75 million installments that will be paid through the department of athletics donor funds.

I know the portal opens immediately for players whose coach leaves but when does the portal open for everyone else?

I believe its next week whether its after the Bowl/CFP reveals or on Monday. Somewhere I heard or read that being the case.

Hence the hastiness in hiring a new head coach.

Yeah because 64 year old whose never coached in the Power 5 and the greatest coach in college football history are totally the same thing.

Exactly, I think I made my point that age doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.

I really can’t imagine that many parents would feel great about sending their sons to play for Fitz. From what I can remember, the details of that hazing scandal were gross and disturbing.

As an alum I would definitely prefer the university to hire someone else to represent us.

That’s a fact. That would be interesting but not likely
Why? Because of his scandal or whatever you want to call it? If that's the hold up then that's just silly. Dude could bring immediate juice and talent. He could win from day 1 and have the program rocking. Now if it's him not wanting it then I totally get it lol.

When was the last time he was a good football coach? Not within the living memory of anyone suiting up.

I did hear that one booster is pushing Jon Gruden but don’t think anyone Is listening.

We'd win the introductory press conference that's for sure. Knock on wood if you hear me
