Those have been mentioned in this thread already. Here's a link to his JMU staff since it looks like a lot of them are joining him. https://jmusports.com/sports/football/coaches Several wore multiple hats, which I will imagine continues. So Shanahan as OC/WR, Haines as DC/LB, Cain as AHC/ST/TE. Quote

Stuhoo Posted December 3, 2023 Posted December 3, 2023 It’s important that we dedicate a budget to paying and retaining quality assistants. While we certainly have far more ability to do so than JMU, it’s good to see that we’ve done what it takes to allow Cig to bring his staff with him. Hovadipo Posted December 3, 2023 Posted December 3, 2023 Idk if any of the guys he brought so far fit the bill, but I’d like to see an assistant or two with some west coast ties. Playing 1-2 games a year out there means we’ll have a footprint, and you need someone with connections to those areas. There is so much skill talent to be had. Like Miami, LA HS football is very cliquey among the HS coaches and who recruits their schools. go iu bb, thebigweave and mamasa 3 Quote

Hovadipo Posted December 3, 2023 Posted December 3, 2023 He’s pretty much told us that it doesn’t matter related to his IU duties, but Cig and JMU will play Air Force in the Armed Forces Bowl on Dec. 23. AWESOME matchup. That’ll be a fun one. mamasa 1 Quote

Class of '66 Old Fart Posted December 3, 2023 Posted December 3, 2023 Rick Bozich with this tweet - And not to leave Indiana football fans out, new coach Curt Cignetti will no longer give 10% of his time to coach James Madison in its bowl game. He's all IU all the time now. cybergates, thebigweave, dar007 and 2 others 5 Quote

mamasa Posted December 3, 2023 Author Posted December 3, 2023 I swore that I’d never get caught up in IU football hype again (I’m 52 for reference), but find myself so excited about the next years lol thebigweave 1 Quote
MemphisHoosier Posted December 3, 2023 Posted December 3, 2023 Mods please feel free to move as you deem appropriate, but we've seen three more decommitments from the '24 class over the last 24 hours or so, see below, judging by the comments you can infer this may have been approached by the incoming staff. N of 1, I don't have an issue, and know many times these moves are in the best interest of the athlete and program, although the timing is unfortunate. Quote

Three different kids with three different families and three different coaches compose nearly the exact same de-commitment message. To me? Sounds like Indiana wrote it for them, and they slightly modified it and sent it out. For me again? Therefore seems like these are Indiana’s decision primarily. Yeah to me seems like these players have talked with the new staff and know they should move on. The staff's responsibility is to put IU in the best position to win, if they don't feel these guys can perform at this level they need to find recruits that can.
