Sounds like a "dawg" (on record for hating that term) or ultra competitive if you want to not sound cheesey. Give me some of that for a guy that'll stick around for 4 years. Yogi was small and hated losing. I liked Yogi a huge amount.

Looking forward to watching some of his HS games from last year this week. Occurred to me while watching KU tonight that the evals out there sound an awful lot like Dajuan Harris from KU. If IU could get a Dajuan Harris-type you crawl over broken glass for that. That kid’s a stone winner.

Two things:

1) We criticize posts here, not posters; and that includes no pot shots at negative-take posters.

acceptable: “your post sux”

unacceptable: “youse sux”

2) Let’s get back on the Daquan Davis topic, because apparently there’s a decent chance he’ll be a Hoosier.

*luv-n-kisses; da mods*

Can we stop with the "negative" term?

The opposite of sunshine pumper is a moonshine sucker.

Man, anyone worried about this guy needs to read that shooting section. This is what so many fans have wanted. Sounds like this guy is a dead eye. Can do it by creating, off dribble, transition, spot up etc and at volume. It said he is the best shooter they have ever evaluated… wow.

Always a fan a great shooters

Knowing the kind of players schools like Providence like to recruit and thinking of Monte Towe Indiana High School and NC State national champion 1973-1974 the yesteryear 5’7” is the 6’0 to 6’1” in 2024.  This would be an excellent recruit for IU in Woodson system.  There is definitely room on the roster for this kind of player….. and if developed during full 4 years (probably by year 3) to run the team at point guard would become a difference maker playing with the mid tall and tall bigs.

If it helps sure. But still wont be happy with our guard rotation after this year.  But DQ could make us attractive to a grad transfer so gotta hit that hard

Hypothetical:

Junior: Gunn

Soph: Cupps, Newton

Fr: Davis

Obviously need one more guard at minimum but man if you get a single G transfer of substance this a ++ talented group. I don't get the pessimism

"Get old and stay old" - Mike Woodson

It makes sense that some are down on lower rated recruits with the mentality of "what can you do for me this year" but before that's said, ask yourself "what can you do for me as a junior"

Don't underestimate 2 years of experience, maturity, and S&C.

IMO you need a good mix of 5* Fr and upper classmen with talent. Ideally look at Michigan State, every year it seems like Izzo has another Jr/Sr player that comes out of the woodwork and dominates the B1G

If it helps to get Queen that's great but if recruiting guys this high, I think I wouldn't have backed off Perry. But I trust the staff knows what they're doing.

It's because of this:

After watching the Overtime Elite Combine, 247Sports’ Adam Finkelstein called Davis the best guard in the loaded program.  That outlet’s Eric Bossi wrote this after watching Davis at the Overtime event:

“He brought all the juice, competed at an intense level, encouraged his teammates and refused to let energy die down on his watch. He’s a tough lead guard who plays low to the ground, has burst and is just enough of a shot maker to keep defenders honest.”

So he's either a dead eye shooter (best ever evaluated by one person) or just a serviceable shooter who is just good enough to keep defenders honest. That's quite a bit of disagreement on his shooting prowess. The skeptic in me says the latter is probably closer to the truth since the former comes off as hyperbolic, especially when considering the size disadvantage he'll have at the college level. Of course, Yogi turned into a very good shooter so I may be wrong.

Yeah this looks like a great get to me. Very talented player. Likely multi-year. Plays both high-energy (green beans) and high-IQ ball. Shoots well.

Having verrrrry limited understanding of how he plays… is DJ Carton a decent comp? At least back when we were recruiting him.

Man, I’d love to play several players with high level scoring and passing/playmaking. This guy sounds like a great basketball player.

You know, the mods don't like to have to take action against recalcitrant posters, but another lazy DJ Carton comparison? Geez.

Indeed.  Passmore is a top 50 player, Davis' highest ranking is 89 and only 120 on Rivals.

Irrespective of ranking, Passmore is physically ready to play from day 1 and is a great athlete. If he develops a consistent jump shot he will play in the NBA for a long time.

Rakease Passmore is a helluva consolation prize.

Yes he is. And I’ll always have a soft spot for the kid for the way he utterly crapped on Eric Musselman. That was an epic example of big-timing a guy.
