Actually happened to stumble upon the below link of an interview with Eric Gordon and AJ Guyton from 2 years ago regarding that team. It was a really good listen. Here’s the the link. hoosierdogg Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 Very sad news. Jamarcus "Tom Tom" Ellis, JUCO player of the year. Came in with Chiploa teammate DeAndre Thomas. He was a triple double threat at Chipola. He had a very tough life as a child. RIP JE. HoosierHoopster and ALASKA HOOSIER 2 Quote
RaceToTheTop Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 Not great at any one thing but rebounded well for his size. 6.8 pts, 7.0 reb, and 3.4 assists the year he was here. Was dismissed from the team in the offseason after Sampson was fired. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote

Regardless, it shouldn’t come as a shock to you, that many of Hoosier Nation found that team to be exciting — They were a dominant group that started the season 17-1 and despite a couple of bad apples…had quite a few high character guys that were easy to root for. Regardless, let’s not turn this into a bash of the 2008 team…a young man who donned the cream and crimson tragically lost his life. moyemayhem, cybergates, thebigweave and 6 others 8 1 Quote

I’m with Scott on this one.FWIW, Gordon, DJ, and Stemler didn’t enjoy the experience either. Very sad and probably not the day to discuss though. RIP J Ellis. Scotty R, johnsoniu and J34 3 Quote

Josh Posted October 28, 2023 Posted October 28, 2023 I thought for sure Ellis would get a triple double for us. His numbers were never spectacular but he did a bit of everything. A really talented player. Rest in peace brother Hoosier987, moyemayhem, johnsoniu and 1 other 4 Quote

Lots of hype and early success only to blame out. Can’t say I was a huge fan either. I did appreciate certain aspects of Ellis’s game. RIP Quote
