Mgbako Arrested, Paying Small Fine for Misdemeanor

Recommended Posts

This team doesn’t have a lot of room for error this season. Starting off with self inflicted dumb decisions before an exhibition game has been played is an “interesting” start, to say the least.

Hopefully Mgbako learns his lesson and this is a just an odd footnote to a successful season.

It most definitely is an opportunity to teach a life lesson:  When one window is closed, another gets opened smashed by a cop.*

*(But maybe not necessarily the Taco Bell drive-thru window and the passenger window in the car.)

all better now.

Very odd and if alcohol or drugs were not involved you wonder about a mental health issue.

Disagree strongly.  We still do not know what triggered MM.

Maybe he was stunned with something that was said to him.

Why not stop with the potentially damaging speculations?

First of all,  let me preface my comments that I respect law enforcement and the risks they take every day they're on duty.

MM moved his car off the TB lot as he was directed.  Per the police report, he didn't move it immediately but he did move it "to a nearby lot".  So why didn't the incident end at that point?   Did the officers take it that he was mocking them and decide to make it an issue?  Did the officers know he was an IU bball player and decide to flex their muscle?   We know these types of things can happen.  Not defending MM because he should not have acted  in a way that caused the TB staff to call the police in the first place but is the escalation of the incident solely on MM's shoulders?

For me it's how did they know who he was did they ask for his ID or did someone know who he was.

Well being around a top program in the country I can assure you there are rules, standards, and direct communication to the players to NOT put yourself in a position to fail on the biggest weekend of the year on campus. Not to mention when you’re hosting various recruits this weekend with their parents present.

Not exactly a great look when the coaching staff is saying goodbye to parents and players today when a player was just arrested a few hours ago.

But I understand Indiana Basketball isn’t exactly Elite anymore so maybe so expectations aren’t there anymore ;)

Are these serious offenses? No. But nonetheless it’s not a good look for a program trying to rebuild to be a household name. I don’t know Woodson’s expectations but I personally thought it would be a tighter ship after Xavier and Parker decided to impress all the girls on Walnut Street. Kids make silly mistakes, but seeing a program with arrests recently makes me raise some eyebrows no matter what the offense are. Just my opinion however.

Yes. You’d make direct communication to the players to not put oneself in a position to fail. Aren’t you aware that’s exactly what is already constantly emphasized? If that’s what you’ve got to insure that a team of 19 year olds are always under control I think you are so off to think that will insure no incidents.Because that is constantly done in every program. And of course, every program has occasional incidents.

And what the heck this has to do with X and Parker in a car going way two fast two years ago? I have no idea and neither do you.

He moved after 15 minutes and as the officers were coming to arrest him. Too late at that point.

read that agin, he had numerous opportunities to leave and didn’t. He should have been arrested sooner

I think we're getting a little off the rails in this thread.

Not only are some questioning a young man's character and mental health because of one incident we really don't know much about -- but some are also dropping unwarranted attacks on Taco Bell.

That place took Doritos and turned them into a taco shell. Pure genius!

That third part of the doritos is the only thing I call in to question about Taco Bell.
